Best Cold Air Intake And Exhaust Setup For An 04 Ford F250

I have a friend who is in need of an exhaust system and a cold air intake system for his ford, being a cummins girl I am not well versed in what products work well on the powerstrokes? any one have any suggestions? thank you guys!:U:

Well, on exhaust - basically any 4" turbo back system will do wonders for your friend -- they can also make due with a 3.5" down pipe and the rest 4" if they would rather.. just basically preference and the 4" will help with keeping EGT's slightly lower.. MBRP, Silverline, etc. all make good 4" exhausts... then you get to choose with or w/o cat, muffler, tip, stainless or alumanized, duals, etc.

As for the intake, the stock intake is just fine until your friend gets well into the 500-600 + HP range -- if they really want to spend the $$$ though, and AFE Stage 2 with the proguard 7 filter is one of the best, but if I had a 6.0, I'd save my $$$ on an intake and spend it on a tuner, studs, or other worthwhile mods :)

just tell him to cut his muffler off for his exhaust, they sound so sweet straight piped

thats for dang sure -- made me wanna trade in my 7.3 once I drove Joe's after I got him his straight exhaust... but the larger exhaust will help with EGT's -- which will likely be something he/she will need to worry bout in the near future... it only takes one mod to start the ball rolling!

I gained 1 mpg when I installed my intake on both my 04 and 05 6.0 Powerstrokes.

afe stage 2 or dry would be your best bet on a 6.0 intake like blue01 said any 4"turbo back will make big diference on that truck. JUST PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM BANKS!! dont make the same mistake i did there intercooler is unbeatable but other than that stay away from them. and if he decides to get a tuner and go crazy with it should make an appointment to get the heads studded. the factory headbolts are schit!!

he mentioned gettin some tuner id never heard of that is supposedly able to put 400+/700+ to the ground!!!! that is unheard of!! i cant remember the name of it but i told hinm the same as u just told me, the other day. i crwled under the truck the other daty to cuz he said it was gunna be a b**ch to get the exhaust off and replaced. i told him i wanted too see it so i was looking at it, iwas holding the pipe right by the first bend after the down pipe and it moved! it had at least 2" of play back and forth, also his trann was covered in black oil and grease that had no smell to it. no leaks on the concrete but it was absolutely covered. u could literally see where it was coming out of where the tranny seald together! i was all umm u might wanna take this thing in and have them check ur tranny lol. hes all i didnt even notice that. the entire motor was covered in grease lol he told me the ford tech said that was normal? my engine is clean, and i dnt clean it lol. so yeah thats my schpeel.

ya i think your friend definitly needs to get that looked at. as for the downpipe if/when he gets the new exhaust dont even bother trying to get it out in one piece, get the sawzall out and chop that thing in half as high up as yuo can reach it will save you a lot of time and headaches. as for the 400/700 chip i have never heard of that kinda numbers id like to know what it was. i know ive talked to a lot of guys on powerstroke.org and they all recomend SCT for the 6.0. just keep remindin him about HEAD STUDS hes gonna need them especially if he hits the numbers you mentioned

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

one more thing if the tech at ford said your friends situation was normal id be finding someone else to work on my truck lol just my 2 cents worth

thats exactly what i told him too do lol he was all yeah um that could work lol. i also said that about the ford tech. dnt wory i will lol but hes kinda subborn bout takin advice from a girl, yet he asked me to come look at the truck i dont get it. whatever i told him eazctly what you have told me and more . so well see what he chooses.:ph: :ha:

hahaha you can lead a horse to water you just cant make it drink lol. haha i thats weird he wants you to look at the truck but wont take your advice ill agree. hell i wish my girl friend would help me work on my truck that would be DIFFERENT. the one i have now will help me clean it up but when its time to turn wrenches she is no where to be found lol
