04 F-350 6.0 No Throttle
I have a strange issue and it happens very sporadic. Sometime it occurs at startup, sometimes while driving. Not sure whether it is limp mode, but I have no throttle. It starts fine, idles, but no throttle. Like I said, sometimes it happens while driving and I have to pull over and shut it down and restart. Mods are few, it has an airaid air filter and I had the turbo rebuilt and egr delete both completed in May. FICM was rebuilt by ficmrepair.com a couple years ago. It does seem to happen more often when it is raining or with a heavy dew after sitting for many hours. 128k
I did run a dose of hotshot's secret thru the fuel back in may, ran a couple tanks of fuel, then changed the filters with OEM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
After lots of reading today, I think it may be the sensor in the pedal. It has adj pedals. Would like to find a way to test before spending that much on a non-returnable part.

Update: A week ago, I adjusted the pedals all the way out and back in. They are not in the normal position that they have been in for the last 2.5 years. I have not had any issues. It has been cold and dry here in the Midwest so I cannot be completely sure moisture was not the culprit. I will run this way for a while longer to see if it changes. I would assume if there is a bad spot it will continue to worsen. I would like to be able to test the pedal before I spend that much on a replacement.

Update: It has been 2 weeks since I adjusted the pedals to a new position. We have had rain, snow, ice and below 0 temps, and I have experienced no issues. I have to assume at this point there is probably either a bad spot in the pedal assembly or maybe there was some dirt or dust that had gotten in there and blocking the sensor maybe. Any recommendations would be great.

Update: It has been about 4 weeks since I adjusted the pedals, and not one issue. Here in SW Ohio, it has been cold, warm, had snow and rain. I guess either the pedal has a worn/bad spot or maybe some dust was in the sensor and moved during the adjustment. Going to leave it alone for now. Still would like to hear any other opinions.

Well, it did it one time this morning while the truck was warming up. It was about 38 here this morning and a little foggy, so it was damp out. Any ideas would be truly appreciated.

Well, it rained all night last night and it did it like three times before I could get out of the driveway. I am starting to think it has nothing to do with the pedal. I had an EGR delete done before this started in the summer while it was dry and I am wondering if maybe the EGR sensor pigtail is getting damp. Thinking that maybe I should fill it full of di-electric grease and tape it up. Anyone else have any suggestions? Could really use some help on this.

It has been suggested to me that it may be the ICP sensor. Can anyone provide me detailed instructions on how to check?

Found 3 broken wires on the drivers side fender well. I think that may be the problem. Going to try soldering them and shrink tubes with silicon without damaging any other of the 5 million wires located right there. Since separating the damaged wires, I haven't had an issue in the rain.
