hey guys new to the site...first question....dummy gauge says no oil pressure at idle and check gauge light comes on.....ok it's an 04 i did an oil change the other day and now the truck dummy gauge says no oil pressure at idle however i know the truck would run if it didnt have pressure runs and starts as normal. replaced the oil return tube, oem cap and filter just replaced the pressure switch tested the lead its ok getting power...so now what guys thanks and sure that the oil draining out of the filter housing.....not leaking any oil anywhere....thanks guys

I had to replace my oil pressure sensor it is on top of your motor look to see if it is covered in oil?

what filter and cap are you running .have you check the black little poppet valve in the bottom of the oil filter res.when you barely touch the gas does the oil pressure gauge register.the ball on the side of the hpop could have came out.i have seen this happen and will still start and drive the truck but not let you get over 65 mph or so.i know because it happened to me in florida coming back to tn.

if everything else checks out you will have to pull turbo and look where the ball is on the pump.

I would have to agree with EXCUTIONER, We had several 2004 with this very same issue. If the HPOP is missing the ball bearing casting plug it can be repaired by using a pipe fitting, depending on mileage it would be a great idea to replace the HPOP and regulator (IPR VALVE)

If the hpop plug is intact, check the Lpo regulator, located on the front cover. It is in the 7 o clock position iirc. Remove and make sure it is not partially stuck open.

also check the check valve where the oil comes in and the by pass.you can modify these covers and make it where you can run an external oil cooler which is alot better for your 6.0:c:
