2003 6.0 diesel no start
 

2003 ford f250 136000 miles manual transmission 6.0 diesel. I towed a camper last week and the truck ran fine. The next day while driving the truck it started losing power. At a stop light the truck had a tuff time idling and pushing the gas pedal did not increase the rmps. Once towed home the truck would no longer start. I changed the fuel filters and the pump on the frame rail. Still no start. The truck has not been worked recently on or modified in anyway. I hooked a snap on scanner up and this is what I have.

Truck starts with starting fluid if that helps.

sounds like a weakening hpop that doesent have enough in it to supply 500 psi for startup but once u introduce ether It cranks motor faster which in turn moves more oil and is able to obtain the 500 psi to start but is unable to supply an aquedate amount to fire injectors efficiently or under load hence running like crap. any way to obtain auto engineuity to monitor high pressure oil?

i would do the air test first.i would also pull the oil filter out and see if you can hear gurgling.if you do hear gurgling in your oil filter housing then the swash plate in your pump has spun.when this happens it changes the timing of the pump and the low side becomes the high side and the high side the low side.

you can get another hpop or if you are mechanical inclined you can try to fix it your self pm if you want to know.:c:

There is a hpop leak but it is making over the required 500 psi. Check fuel pulse width while cranking, does it show something other than 0? If it doesn't check for cam/crank sync and ficm sync, and make sure you have at least 150 rpm cranking. If it does show something for fpw, check your glow plug system and fuel pressure.
