Fuel problem

Ok first off it's a 04 studded sct innovatice tunes updated oil cooler egr delete 4" exhaust s&b intake horn afe air intake boost builder updated stand pipes banjo bolts 190/100 warren injectors
Was leaving work let truck warm up for 5 min after it starte to high idle got about 1/4 mile and truck died tried to start it back up sounded like it was only hitting on 2 cylinders or so pretty much just cranked sounded like it wasn't getting fuel towed back to work it'll start n run for 10 sec then runs rough n dies I changed fuel filters still nothing
My buddy hooked up his scanner ( 5k snap on one WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING) and everything checked out so I'm at a loss gonna check fuel psi tomorrow
Injectors have less then 1500 miles on em up until Sunday when all this happened the truck ran like new no problems at all
Could it be my fuel pressure regulator?? Do I need the blue spring upgrade??

i have two (10k SNAPON SCANTOOLS) and they will not tell you when an injector is letting compression past and pressurizing the fuel system making it shut down

Ok my bad but wat do you think my problem is?? Just need some opinions wat you guys have dealt with n most common problem from what I have said before??

Just-Another-Dieselguy 11-25-2014 02:49 PM

i am just joking around with you man, defiantly read the fuel pressure and see if it goes real high then it dies..

my scan tools help out alot but they will not cover everything

Ya his scanner does a lot but not everything lol not fuel psi he's bringing a gauge to check it tomorrow I have a blue spring upgrade or kit to rebuild the fuel pressure regulator whichever way you wanna put it so I'm hoping that helps but wat would cause it to loose fuel pressure??

I would be surprised if stock fuel system is satisfying 190/100 injectors. AfFTER you find problem I would get a better pump and regulated return system. Regulating return insures injectors are getting adequate pressure. Many debates on here in previous forums, I just gave you short version.

So stock fuel system prob cnt keep up?? I assumed it would only because my buddy has same set up as me 190/100 injectors stock pump stock tubo but he's running the edge n I have a sct
I plan on doing a turbo down the road but prob no bigger the 190/100 injectors way size lift/fuel pump would be good for my setup??

Could a bad fuel pressure regulator cause it not to start I'm sure it's never been rebuilt/replaced or anything I have the upgrade kit should I put it on and hope for the best or is it defintaly something much worse??

I'm seeing companies who will not honor warranty on oversized injectors without a regulated return system. . There are many discussions in previous posts about fuel systems, injectors and better set ups. I would recommend a little research and see what you like. I do understand how a regulated return keeps pressure to all the injectors where regulating before the injectors can allow end of line to starve for fuel. Bigger injectors usually need more fuel under higher throttle conditions.
