Aftermarket heads
 

Well I blew a head gasket again surprise surprise! This time I'm thinking about going ahead and putting on aftermarket heads. Have any of y'all done this? Is it worth the money? And I do have the truck studded already.

What brand head gaskets are you using? Did you get the heads checked for flatness or are they cracked? I cracked mine and ordered a set from clearwater cylinder head with new ford oem gaskets. Never use any other gaskets other them oem.

I have used quite a few aftermarket heads from Rudy's in NC, very happy with transaction and products

I have stock heads and yes I did have them decked and checked for cracks. I also did use oem gaskets

Maybe just bad luck? What are your mods? If you have the coin get the aftermarket heads. I know quite a few people pushing higher boost with no problems on factory heads.

Sorry I've been working a lot the past few days. I have garret powermax turbo, cold air intake, intake manifold elbow, blue spring update, arp headstuds with oem gaskets, stock heads, egr delete, 4in exhaust, sct custom tuned by Matt from gearhead, and a innovative ficm tuner

The boost is not what pops head gaskets. If it is blowing at the fire ring and the heads are flat and studded then you are having drive pressure issues. When drive pressures get to high is when gaskets start "popping"

What are the causes of this?

Cylinder pressures getting to high will ruin a head gasket. Everything comes into factor, flatness, gaskets, and clamping force are all what need to be in tip top shape.
Engine rpm, valve lash, fuel portion, air density, exhaust restriction/ high drive pressures.
All of these added up causes bad head gaskets
