Tuners?? best? worst?
 

whats the best bang for my buck when it comes to Tuners??.. i would like something that i can install myself and something where i can pick between like a fuel milage mode, and a towing mode. but i dont want it to break me either

Look into SCT I have heard they are the best, I real good one with all the fancy stuff will run you around $700 but that has all the temps and regulators which is what you want especially for a 6.0. My buddy has one and he's got a 6 inch lift and 37's and gets 18 mpg average and it's got allot more power, that's on the tow tune. Don't even get me started on the extreme race tune.😜

Use a SCT with custom tuning. If you want the gauges there is an SCT model that can show most PIDs you want to monitor.

What can I get cheap to just help with fuel economy for now?

SCT X3....then save up for the custom tuning.

Now with that being said. I ran a Hypertech Max Energy for about a year for the speedo recalibration and some extra power. I was really impressed with it. It did ajust my transmission so shifts where firmer and where they should be. Ran it with not ill results. Only reason I ran it was I got it for next to nothing new and needed to recalibrate my speedo. I am now running a SCT X3 with Super Panty Dropper tune.

Been using the Hypertech Max Energy for 7 years and towing a 15500 lbs RV trailer since. Will never be without. Get great power gain, great fuel mileage both towing and unloaded and no negative effect to my truck with 140k trouble free miles. Been great for speedo accuracy also. Tow on !level 2 because !even 3 works great while mileage suffers a bit. At no time the exhaust temperature has been alarming. It surely mows the hills and stretch the fuel stops.

I have a Hypertech lll. My problem is I had my EGR bypassed after it started dumping antifreeze into my engine. The work was done by a shop. After about a month, the check engine light came on and the code on my Hpyerteck showed it was my EGR. My Hypertech will clear the code, but after about 15 miles the light comes back on. I had ford dealer look at it and they agreed and said an SCT tuner will clear the code and the light won't come back on. I hate to spend $500+ on an SCT to find out this is not true. Can anyone tell me if the SCT will handle this when the Hyperteck won't???
