6.0 acting weird ...
 

Hey guys, while i was on deployment my truck kinda went south while my wife drove it. Now it's idling rougher than normal, has studder upon acceleration, and some serious turbo lag. My scanguage readings are all in order. So what the hell could it be???? At idle it fluctuates between a deep rubble, normal turbo whistle idle, idle with no whistle, and then back to deep rumble. While i love the way the deep rumble and the "lope" sounds, i know it's not running right. So what gives?? Thanks for the help ya'll. (2004 F350 6.0 cclb)

Try a quart of Hot Shot Secret. It cleans oil system and helps with "stiction" issues. If it clears up run for while then change oil and filter and enjoy! If it doesn't work, repost with more info. Miles, maintenance practices, etc.

Well, went to start the truck this morning, it ran REALLY rough and then started spitting out white smoke that smelt like fuel (inproperly atomized fuel) before i killed it. FICM volts were right, but i think the memory portion of the FICM is messed up. Any thoughts??? oh yeah, early build 2004 F350

sorry, didn't do the hot shots or rev x or anything since it isn't do for an oil change for another 3,000 miles. i use diesel kleene every fill up though.

Your first post sound like injector stiction but second sounds like ficm id buy some rev x and change oil and pour the revx in oil and see if tht helps if it does itll be your injectors

Sounds like the VGT section needs a good cleaning. Where is the truck located?

Welp, took the turbo out and took it apart. The unison ring was completely seized onto the housing.... Used a flap wheel and cleaned her up real good and got some anti seize on it and the vanes. Actuated the vgt plunger from the outside and she worked flawlessly. Now gotta get time to get the egr delete in her and slap her back together to continue this adventure.

Got her all back together and she is acting exactly the same. The wife and i are so damn tired of this "lope"/low power crap....

Would still try the Hot Shot Secret to clean injector solenoids and oil system then rev-x at next oil change. Add Hot Shot Secret and drive it at least 1000 miles. It's not magic, but it works on dirt and stiction! I know it helped mine and most I used it on. I had a friend with a farm and low maintenance standards. Easy to do and cheap.
