6.0 EGR Delete Info Needed
 

Hello people New to the forum here, Well pulled my EGR out last week to clean it up and this time it was like mud around the valve so I guessing the egr cooler is f'd so I ordered up a delete kit and a new oil cooler along with a coolant filter kit, I'll be sending my PCM out to power hungry perf. To get the egr crap flashed out of it. Today I got it tore down will be taking intake to be hot tanked tomorrow my question is should I look into any other inexpensive preventative fixes while I'm in this far? It has been kinda slow starting lately but the battery's are going to hell so think that maybe part of the slow start issue but who knows.

Did run into chaffing on the injector harness under the intake tube looking deeper the cooper seen looks like copper wire wrapped around the other 4 wires leading to the plastic injector connector?

Computer codes? Does the EGR delete include a resistor to fool the computer that it is still there? If not how do you deal with codes?

I am about to do the same EGR delete to wife's '08MB 3.0CDI, and remove butterfly valves in intake as well. All smog parts not needed.

Did throw a egr flow code which is why I pulled the valve to clean it, I'll be sending the computer to be reflashed to have the egr functions disabled.

Wondering now if I should have ordered the updated STC fitting kit for the slow starts, but not really sure if there's not one in it already? Is it possible to pull the hpop cover to inspect it with out any new seals for it? If that makes any sense

If the seals are o rings then likely yes, if it uses gasket material on the EGR can you use high temp RTV and let it cure for a day? Worked for me.

EGR issues plague the modern diesels, I have a kit from Summit that provides a can and filter to allow for oil and gasses to escape in the absence of an electric EGR with a pit cock on the bottom for draining off the oil. You can leave the EGR this way and bypass its functionality, keeping the intake clean of oil and sludge.
