Violent shakes

Hi guys new to the forum. Clearly, I have a 2004 6.0. No recent work done to the truck that pertains to the issue. The truck is my father-in-law's. He has a list of all mods that I will add to my signature tomorrow.

The issue at hand, merging on to the freeway with no load, at 55 mph the trucks drops to 1500 RPMs and starts violently shaking until I let off. I did not notice if the speedo started to bounce or not.
I know the injectors need replacing or at least need to pulled and examined. But I'm not sure if they would cause the truck to basically battle where the rpm needs to be. I'm stumped and any help would be much appreciated.

I've also researched and found the u-joints might be causing this?

Thanks :c:

If the maintenance and specifically oil hasn't been done regularly with proper oil you can get stiction of injectors which would cause misfires and do what you describe. If you want to try inexpensive you can put a quart of hot shot secret. It was made for international years ago to "cure" the stiction issue since residue builds up in coil area and causes misfires. Most of the time it works. It does NOT fix mechanical issues or other problems. I would also check fuel pressure at bowl port, maybe you have clogged filters? More info would help dial in if you can. Try Hot Shot if u can find it.

Thanks for your reply! I will have to see if I can't my hands on some of that. A friend of mine also suggested rev-x, same solution, different product?
What other info specifically can I add-in?

Another additive, used for the same reason (injector stiction) is AR9100. It's cheaper than RevX and does the same thing for less money.
Simply changing your oil more often is going to reduce stiction also. Also, switching to 5W40 full synthetic is going to reduce the stiction.

I was using 5W40 from the day I bought my 2006 new. I was changing every 7500 miles. At about 45,000 miles I began to have stiction issues in the injectors. I started changing my oil more often (every 5,000 miles) and the problem went away. I also started using AR9100 for added protection. I add 16 ounces of AR9100 every oil change. I have recently started using 15W40 in the summer and 5W40 in the winter, always putting in 16 ounces of AR9100. The truck runs good, no stiction that I can tell.

Thanks bustedknuckles I will check it out.

In my limited knowledge, I'm pretty sure rev x is a lubricant ( which I use now with 5-40 Rotella synthetic) and hot shot secret is a cleaner, which I used after I experienced stiction issues at about 100,000 miles. You clean with hot shot, maintain with rev-x. . .worked for me is all I can vouch for

That's correct, Rev-x is just a lubricant (a pretty darn good one though). Hot Shot's is less of a lubricant and more of a detergent. People get good results from Rev-x but they have to consistently use it, and I have heard that it gets less effective after so many miles. Once the Hot Shot's has cleaned out the injectors, you only need to use a half dose every 3 oil changes to maintain it. :U:

Thanks, just got my hot shot in today! Hopefully in 1500 miles or less the problems go away

I don't have a solid result yet because now my FICM is goin out. So it's causing the truck to run like poopoo regardless.
