Hot start problem - cracked branch tube? $4,000 estimate
Recently bought an 05 F250 that has the infamous hot start problem. It runs well when going down the road at all speeds even while towing. It idles fine. It will start up after running for a few minutes but just cranks over after getting hot.
After reading up extensivly I was sure it would be the HPOP or STC. We took it to a deisel mechanic and he did an air test. I wasnt around when he called but he left a message saying that the rear branch tube is cracked. That the trans, heads, truck cab need to be removed. Looking at 40hrs of labor plus parts, about 4,000 dollars Does this sound legitimate? What are the chances he's hearing an STC crack or maybe something else? :s: |
I call that b.s i can do it in like 4 to 5 hr at the most

And the cab don't need to come off for that job
