Stranded on the side of the road....help!

I was driving my truck thinking of what a good truck it has been. I was stopped in the turn lane, the light turned green & I started to go foward when it died 1/2 way through the intersection. Pulled into the gas station and found that fuse 115 was blow ( battery charger for the trailer fuse ). I got a new fuse at the gas station. My truck started right away like it normally does. Ive never had problems with my 6l. I did the ficm repair from Ed. Tow truck is here. I'll b back

OK, I"m home thanks to AAA! OK, so the only mods I've done I did when I first pruchased the truck. I did the FICM repair by ED, coolant filtration kit, new oil cooler, Blue spring fuel psi kit, EGR delete. My FICM has the Atlas tune and I'm running CAT EC1 coolant.

My truck runs amazing. Today I was at the light and my truck died as I was accelerating with traffic 1/2 way though the intersection. My truck sat for 1/2 hr and then fired up. We cancelled AAA and started driving home. After 2 miles, my truck died again...no warnning, just died. WE called AAA again and got within the 5 mile zone so it was a free tow ;) Once I got it home, I started it and it fired right up as if nothing was wrong. I do not have a code reader and I suspect it may be the cam sensor, but not sure a I have no way to check the codes. I remember reading a way you can check codes thorugh the dash, but I have no idea of how to read codes this way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

what year is truck? double check the harness for the EGR valve if you have the valve removed and make sure it is tywrapped out of the way because it is a sensor circuit and if the contacts hit a bolt or something it will short out the circuit and shut the truck off, mine fell behind a pulley and it took me several days to figure it out. This could also be a oil issue, either low pressure pump or high pressure pump.

Sorry, I forgot and realized that I did not post the year of my truck. 2003 F 350 crew cab long bed. Been searching and not finding anything as of yet :(
The strange thing about my current problem is that if my truck sits for say 1/2 hr, it will fire right up like nothing is wrong. But then it dies after two miles of driving the truck????

How can I find the proper codes for my truck? Best scan tool to purchase? I know harbor freight has a scan tool for a reasonable price...and now with my truck broken down...reasonable prices is what i'm looking for :scare2:

I work for a fire department and the medic unit I work on died just like my truck did today. The medic unit has a 6.0L and it was a cam sensor that failed. Do the 2003 6L have cam sensors? I guess I really need a way to read the codes to figure out where to start fixing this problem.

Bulletproof diesel offers scan guage for under $200.00 . It looks pretty cool. . It's on their website but u gotta look for it.

I don't know if it's the same as a 7.3 but to my knowledge it sounds like a leak to you injectors because my 7.3 did the same thing. Everything is fine when the oil is cold and not leaking but when it's warm it starts to leak. Therefore there's no oil pressure to fire the injectors.
