That darn p2286 DTC
Hey what's ups guys? I am new here and have an issue.
Alright, my late 2004 6.0 powerstroke 2WD put out a p2286 about 4 months ago. I have checked for chafed wires by completely unwrapping the wiring harness from ICP sensor to the PCM. Found no bad wires. I did a voltage check w/volt meter and all checked out except for the test for ohms, I'm not sure how to read ohms on my meter, I can set it but not sure what is what. Did egr delete 2 years ago and had FICM rebuilt a month ago. Truck starts fine, a litlte ruff at first but runs like a champ after warm up. That's the thing, truck runs just fine but the check engine light keeps giving me the p2286. I've checked this thang over & over and at wits end to solve the prob !!! I need the most knowledgeable response soon. Thankee. |
Do you have access to a monitor so you can read the actual voltage for the ICP? If not, I would replace the ICP, these commonly go out on the 6.0's. I have replaced several in other peoples vehicles. Yes, they are $200 plus, but it is worth it so you know that it is new, I would also spring for a FoMoCo one...hope you get the problem solved!

Hey Big Blue. I do have a Centech scanner. Are you talking about icp under turbo or later model on front passenger valve cover ? Mine is a late 04 on valve cover. Is that the one people change often ? I have read a bunch of threads that mention probs with earlier under turbo ones.

Yes, the one on the valve cover. I have replaced the ones in the valve covers as well. That is weird that it starts fine and runs fine...I would still replace it. Keep it as a spare, but I bet it solves the issue.
