Hi guys,

I have an F-250 4X4 2006 6.0L diesel King Ranch. It's basically a driver and not used to pull heavy loads very often though I do pull a 2000 pound tow behind grader now and then When I do that it's in low 4whell drive at about 15MPH. It has just under 160K miles on it.

To help eliminate stuff I'll say first what has been done over the space of a few years.
Everything that has been done has been done by my son and myself.

had my FICM rebuilt and FICM wiring harness replaced
replaced the egr valve and egr cooler as well as the turbo
replaced both fuel filters
rebuilt the Hpop and stand pipes and dummy plugs
replaced the coolant reservoir
replaced all glow plugs and wiring harness

I'm not setting any codes.

When I start the truck I can sometimes hear and feel just a slight stutter and stumble in the engine and I can see an ever so slight dip in the tachometer. Nothing significant just a slight stutter. Then when I'm driving at about 50MPH and holding steady I can feel it stumble and when pulling a hill (I live in Oklahoma so it's a hill not a mountain!!) it will stumble more and just slightly start to buck a little. It seems to be only when I'm holding steady at around 50MPH. If I accelerate it clears up immediately and when I'm on the highway going at 65-70MPH with the cruise on it sets up and seems to run with no problem even when pulling a hill. All system indicators are good and as I said I'm not setting any codes.

I was wondering if there is an RPM sensor that possibly has a flat spot?? Or possibly something else?? As always any help to point me somewhere to look is appreciated

Wondering if you are getting stiction issues with your injectors. As they age the spool valves wear out that control your injectors. There are very tight tolerances and as they get old they get residue on them and they " stick" . Causes a stutter at certain speeds.

Does anyone know of a "do it yourself" injection cleaner I can try?? I checked with a local dealership and they said they don't do diesel injection cleans and don't recommend it. I'd like to try a cleaner before swapping them out.

Hotshot secret is a cleaner, rev-x and archoil will make them run smoother and prevent stiction. All 3 are added to your oil when you change it.

I have used hot shot secret and rev x and was happy with results. I use 5-40 Rotella synthetic with rev x at every oil change. I had injector stiction issues that cleared up for the most part . . It never really goes completely away until you replace the injectors but I have been nursing mine for over 60,000 miles and 2 + years and still going strong. I'm considering 58 v ficm half shell . . Always want more! . .
