Where does this wire go?? (Pictures) - Dual alternator system -
 

I have a 2006 Ford F350 6.0 Superduty with a dual alternator setup.

I feel like a moron. Long story short, the truck kept losing charge, took the alternators to Autozone, top (primary) alternator was toast, bought a new one, re-installed both alternators, and the battery light went off.

Drove the truck around for a couple weeks and yesterday morning when I went to start it up it was dead. (I think the batteries might need replacing as well, they're old) And when I went to go check it out I saw this wire:

I was pretty much dumbfound because I feel like I've never seen it before and I'm pretty good about taking things apart and remembering how to put them to together but I don't remember this wire. My first thought was since there was an eyelet on it is that I forgot to bolt it on to the alternator contact. So I checked:

Looks like that one's all set, so I check the bottom alternator:

Looks like that one is good too, so now I'm clueless.
I was thinking maybe it also gets bolted to the top alternator contact on top of the current eyelet, BUT amazingly I found a nut I set down still sitting on the shroud that will bolt the eyelet to where ever it belongs. Which leads me to believe it has its own spot.

Reads: "3C3T 14305", "O5F","BG" like 10 times in the red part.

And finally (I know, this post is forever long) a better idea of where the wire is coming from. It looks as if it comes from of the bottom alternators harness clip:

I believe that should go to the battery post clamp just like the other one from the top alternator.

I would second that . The only place it really can go i to the battery or to the starter.

On my 2006 Ford E350 Superduty Van with 6.0 Powerstroke - that wire is the feed to the glow plug connectors (pin 3 on the black and the green) - and should be connected to a post sticking up from the top of the primary alternator. The primary alternator is hot all the time, the secondary alternator is switched on and off by the PCM - it typically comes on after about a minute of the engine running. So if its not connected the glow plug indicator comes on but the glowplugs themselves don't. makes starting a PAIN if it starts at all. The wire in your picture is obviously intended to be there (call it wire memory) - and your upper alternator which is the system primary one does not appear to have the protruding terminal it should have to accept that wire. - DID THEY SELL YOU AN EXACT REPLACEMENT?

the wires that go to the alternator i have found to be white.that lead goes to the battery hot side passenger of course.

i also have the dual alternator set up.
