2005 6.0 block and heads swap to 04 6.0

so i picked up a 2004 ford excursion with a bad head. and it turned out that the piston was beat to rat sh)# from the valve that broke off. fortunetly my friend has a 2005 excursion that his son rear ended a semi and messed it up so i can get it for cheap but my question is this.

can i swap the the 2005 block and heads into mine and use the 2004 intake and up? asuming the are both 18mm dowels that is. or can i swap the whole thing into it?

i heard that there might be a wiring change on the top end?

it is an easy swap, get the engine wiring harness from the 05 and you are good to go.
If you have a late 04 motor with the ICP sensor on the pass side valve cover then you have the right harness anyway, if not it is easy to unwrap the harness and the ICP plug will reach the pass side valve cover without splicing it. no matter what you want the 05 intake anyway, alot earier to take out in the future.
if you don't stud it right now then at least rebuild the oil cooler and get rid of the EGR cooler to eliminate half of the known problems.

can i swap the whole 05 motor? harness and all? the 04 intake has a sensor right on the intake horn. i dont think that the 05 has that will that be a problem? my o4 does have the icp sensor on the passenger valve cover too if that helps

You can swap the whole motor, that gadget under the elbow horn is not needed. you can take the elbow off of an 05 and put it on an 04 with the butterfly/aka/gadget/ removed.
either harness will work, the egr and the butterfly valve do not have to be plugged in .

Now I called to get new injectors and they said that 04 injectors I had on order needed to be changed to 05. No problems but was just curious if there actually was a difference. Thanks for all the help guys
