To much Boost????

Hey guys this scenario has just been on my mind for awhile, my dad recently traded off his diesel excursion for a 2006 f-350 DRW 6.0 the motor looks real new(egr valve, turbo pipes, intake elbow, fuel bowl all still have stickers on them) but he uses it to haul hay with and it is really weird, normally it will pull 23 psi (seems normal that is my 2003 max psi) but from time to time it will shift down in tow haul mode and boost pressure will shoot up to 35 for a few seconds and the check engine light will come on. Nothing major really happens but I have told him that it cant be healthy on stock head bolts. I was just wondering if you guys knew what was happening, it seems like the turbo almost overhwhelms the engine if that makes any sense. I just wanted to hear some input. Another question about the truck it has a NAPA oil bypass kit right in front of the driver side steer tire in the bumper basically, he said he went to change the stock filter as well but there wasn't a filter in it and said there hadn't been any oil run through it. Anyone have a similar set up? Thanks for the input!!:rocking::rocking:

Really the only real harm you are creating is over speeding the turbo which can lead to the compressor wheel to just explode. But for some reason the VGT is not controling the turbos compression, so it could be an actuator is sticking or you may have computer/ sensor issues that are not allowing the ECM to control the VGT Turbo. Really the engine ok, its just something not communicating right to the VGT Modual. But now the oil by pass, he had no oil filter in his truck? im somewhat confused because thier is a ball that has to be pressed in by the oil filter so it can be supplied to the HPOP system... (If in not mistaken) kinda confused I guess..

Ya I figured it was just something minor with the turbo that wouldn't cause any harm, I was just curious what that might be. Ya he said there was no filter in the housing and he said it didn't even look like there had been any oil ran through there so I was just confused at that aswell.:humm:

I would check out the oil filter system too. Maybe early Amsoil setup? Usually oil is set up as a bypass to super clean the oil, not replace stock setup. Maybe somebody liked the spin on filters and made something? Would like more info, maybe pics if u can of oil system. . .sounds interesting!

Pics of the filter setup and the OEM oil filter location would be great for more help.
