joebob3093 08-14-2013 11:20 PM

Krizacosta915 08-15-2013 07:48 PM

What exactly do u mean by head studs remember I'm new to this

Deadeye 08-15-2013 10:33 PM

The head bolts on the 6.0 are know to stretch which result in the head gaskets leaking if your looking to start adding horsepower you will eventually blow the gaskets the fix is to install arp head bolts they don't stretch out like the factory bolts to add easy horsepower with out worrying about the heads is to do a cold air intake and 4 or 5 inch turbo back exhaust you should gain around 30 hp

Krizacosta915 08-15-2013 10:58 PM

Thank u for the info

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Ok so so far I already order the arp head studs and a egr delete kit .. I'm holding up on the tunes since I don't have the codes and ima take care of the exhaust this weekend what else do you guys recommend

Deadeye 08-15-2013 11:05 PM

The egr delete will make a huge reliability difference I'd hold off on the tuner till you do the head gaskets and arp studs a decent tuner will give you a extra 125 hp it's enough to cook the back tires right off your truck

Krizacosta915 08-15-2013 11:20 PM

Yeah the thing about the egr delete kit is a specific brand better then the other ones since I mean I see everyone has a sinister or some other brands what makes the difference

TheyCallMeCountry 08-16-2013 07:29 AM

Since your new to this, I'll just go ahead an put together a list for you. It don't take much to make these 6.0's quick.

EGR: http://www.bulletproofdiesel.com/ShoppingCart.asp

ARP Head studs, and new gaskets. Head Gasket Install Complete Kit, Ford 6.0L

Tuner; SCT SF3 Ford Power Flash Tuner

MBRP 5" exhaust, aFe Cold Air intake

Krizacosta915 08-16-2013 10:12 AM

Thank u

Krizacosta915 08-19-2013 08:19 PM

I need something explain and clarify most of you suggested a egr delete but I read about a egr cooler can u tell me what's the difference and which Is the better option

I wouldn't delete it, I'd get the Bullet proof diesel EGR Cooler "fix" they did a great job with making a kit that fixes the restrictive cooler. I gave you the link for the newer fixed cooler.

Krizacosta915 08-19-2013 11:21 PM

Yeah I was reading just though I would ask to see if anyone of you guys had seen or have a egr cooler instead of the actual delete and what difference would it make

TheyCallMeCountry 08-20-2013 02:02 AM

Taken from BDP's sight. It's all right there.

You’ve probably been told...

“An EGR delete is the thing you need...”

“The EGR cooler is the problem - just delete it”

“You don’t even need that EGR cooler, just get rid of it”

Here is what you didn’t hear...

1. An EGR delete will set your check engine light.¹

2. An EGR delete is NOT the “end all” solution that most believe it to be.

3. An EGR Delete is ILLEGAL in ALL 50 STATES.
• All vehicles are required to meet Federal emissions standards.
• The penalty for an emissions component alteration can be in the thousands of dollars.

4. An EGR delete causes the vehicle to pollute.

Here's your solution, Bullet Proof Diesel EGR Cooler.

1. The BPD EGR cooler is extremely reliable.

2. Has a lifetime parts-only warranty.

3. The BPD EGR cooler WILL NOT set the check engine light.

4. The BPD EGR cooler will allow the EGR system to function the way it
was intended to work.

5. Combined with the Bullet Proof Oil Cooler you get a Bullet Proof solution for the 6.0

The choice is yours. No further input needed.:tu:

The EGR cooler and the EGR valve "both located on the intake manifold" Are prone prone to leaking. The Cooler is what you will be replacing. The complete egr delete kits comes with:

EGR Valve plate - Plate replaces EGR Valve. 2 bolts. Simple install
EGR Cooler Removal - Replaces EGR Cooler with "j" pipe. Replaces uppipe from passenger side manifold. This is the extensive part. Removal of turbo, injector harness, degas bottle, fuel/oil filter housing, INTAKE MANIFOLD, intercooler piping. All this comes off for the install. When replacing the EGR COOLER being that all is torn down anyway and is the FIRST thing to do to these trucks, I would replace the STC fitting on the HPOP while I was there and ensure the updated drain tube was installed. New intake manifold gaskets and a turbo gasket/oring kit will also be needed. I highlyyyyy reccommend Sinister Diesel for the EGR delete as they are most reputable for that specifically. Bullet proof diesel is great as well.

Exactly what TheyCallMeCountry said. If you are going for power though in the long run, pull that POS off lol. The Valve will clog with soot, maintainence is a must and everytime you work on your rig it has to come off unlike the deleted one. Not knockin ya TheyCallMeCountry just advising that the illegal side is better for the longevity of the 6.0. 100% though for the legal way good write up.

Krizacosta915 08-20-2013 10:16 AM

All right. Thank you guys for the info

bustedknuckles 08-20-2013 10:41 AM

I installed the Bulletproof Diesel EGR cooler 3 years and over 40,000 miles ago. It's working fine...no complaints. And I don't have any explaining to do when I get it smogged.
I'm sure a delete will give you more power, but I haven't seen any evidence of the unreliability that some people say comes with keeping the EGR cooler. I'm going to change to ELC coolant next time I flush...my first flush came at 60,000 miles...the truck has 108,000 now.

Krizacosta915 08-20-2013 03:14 PM

It reads on the website that the egr cooler has to be installed with the oil cooler or some other thing to work is that true

bustedknuckles 08-20-2013 11:36 PM

Yes. This is the way the stock EGR cooler is designed. Coolant flows through the oil cooler and then through the EGR Cooler.
The Bulletproof EGR Cooler is a direct replacement of the stock unit.
