driver side up pipe leaking

My driver side up pipe is leaking I noticed this when I lifted my hood and seen a bunch of soot, so I had my wife rev it up and found the leak. Question is, is there an up pipe that is aftermarket that wont leak I am not sure if its cracked or not, but what I have read on the net they do crack. Im just trying to find out what to buy in case it needs replaced when I take it off and look at it?

Yes some shops will mod them with heavy duty bellows.

Is it possible to change this yourself, I called fprd and they told me $1000 because you have to pull the cab.

It's a PITA but can be done. It's best done with both front wheel liners removed, down pipe removed and the turbo removed.

I have done the pipe with updated bellows on my truck with EVERYTHING still attached minus turbo and downpipe.

Unbolt downpipe to turbo
Remove turbo
Loosen Turbo Bolts on the pedestal ( gearwrenches work best here)
You do not need to remove the wheel wells, cross member or anything else.
Unbolt DeGas Bottle
Drivers side bolts from up-pipe to exhaust manifold are a pain but do come off/loosen.
Loosen Passenger side manifold to up-pipe.
Install new pipe from passenger top-side (it fits!)

TIGHTENING IN ORDER IS KEY!
Mount turbo back on and do not tighten pedestal bolts
I learned this the hard way. USE COPPER GASKET Sealer on inside of marmon clamp for the rear of the turbo to y pipe. The pipe will seal and slide as it tightens best thing in the world. After the turbo is mount the rear marmon clamp is installed completely with copper gasket sealer then begin to tighten both sides of the manifold evenly. I'll post pictures for you of what my y pipe did.. Blew a whole ring off the bellow and seperated the pipes.

Heres the cheapest one I found and it was shipped to Alaska. Great company. I have this one on my truck.

FORD 6.0L DRIVER SIDE UP PIPE Y PIPE

$198 updated HD bellows. Dont let someone talk you into a one piece, you're just asking for cracks then.

Agreed haha. Just trying to save the guy some kicking and screaming. normally it takes me about 6 beers to do a y pipe job and about 12 beers for an egr delete... some people measure time differently too :c:

How long does it usually take you to finish a beer? That's my question. Haha, beautiful write up man, you couldn't have done it any better.
