Bad Ficm
 

I just had my truck at the dealer for a no start issue and they determined it was a bad ficm and want $1200 to replace it. I know I can just do it myself for alot cheaper, my question is would it be better to just have mine rebuilt and upgraded to 58v or to buy a new one. And also what is the benefit of upgrading to 58v. Truck is a 2006 powerstroke 6.0l. thanks in advance

Much better then $1200 from the Stealership!!!

58V FICMs have a reputation of burning out injector coils... I don't know if that holds up or not, but I have heard that. Hope that helps.

Also check out the BulletProof Diesel FICM... Spendy, but there is an option for an extra "phase" to increase the durability and reliability of the ficm.

I have heard 58volt units also create more heat in a sensitive area, but some guys here seem to love them! I'm happy with my ficmrepair.com repaired unit with 40 hp tune. . . Lotta advertisers here will make you happier than dealer. .

Thx for the replies I ended up taking my stock unit down to bulletproof diesel and getting it rebuilt. Only cost me $250 and they are right down the street from my house:jump:

Get yours rebuilt and tuned $1200?! you can dam near get 3 ficms for that

Yup ridiculous isn't it.... that is what the stealership quoted me.:argh:

My starter is getting tired, so I just ordered their replacement online. Looking forward to trying it, seems low cost. If its as good as the rest of their products it's a great deal!
