Factory authorized modification

There is a sticker on the fan shroud of my 2006 F350 that indicates a factory authorized modification was done back in 2/02/06. The sticker provides the following information:

PCM TCM
6C3A-12A650-CMB
dealer # 03172
Any idea what the heck this means?? I would like to know before I decide to make an changes to the truck my self.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

PCM was reflashed. Ask for an OASIS report and verify the sticker to reported dealership work on the OASIS.

Remember I am a Newbie. So what the hell is a PCM and an Oasis report? I will gladly seek out this info if I know what the heck I am asking for and who to ask. Try one more time to explain and speak slooowly.https://www.dieselbombers.com/images.../smile-big.png

PCM= Powertrain Control Module (the brain) that is the center for all vehicle functions.

OASIS (???) basically it's a service department report that will show all dealership service work done thru Ford dealers as reported for your VIN (vehicle identification number). The OASIS should be free of charge, just ask your local Ford service department.

Ford was attempting to "fix" certain issues by adjusting the programming in the PCM. Some re-flashes were horrible, others turned out pretty good. You might need a SCT/tuner device to pull the coding to know exactly what you are running.
I'm talking slowly, you just need to slow down your reading. :tu:

Keep posting questions I'll help as best possible.

Heavy Assault
Thanks for speaking in lay mans terms what this all means. You have given me something to consider and I will go to dealer and get that oasis report to find out more about previous work. maybe I will find out about all the Aux switches that have been added to console also.

HeavyAssault 07-16-2013 05:44 AM

Those are OEM up-fitter switches. They supply 2-30A and 2-10A accessories with direct power. No need to run wires to a power supply, find a switch, etc etc. The ends are located underneath the fuse panel located under the steering column.

I have three of mine in use two are used to power two different front lights and the other runs my bed/backup LEDs.

To use them mount up your accessory that requires power (either 30A max or 10A max), then run the power wire into the cab, pull down the fuse panel, connect to the 10A or 30A lead, close everything up. The switches only work with the key in the Run position, the engine doesn't need to be running but the key will need to turn forward.

Man you are all over this stuff. Thanks again. It looks as though you have exactly the same model as mine so I can see you are very familiar with these issues and questions. Good pointers and more ideas for me to consider. Obviously I am not taking full advantage of all the benefits of this truck. I have found a couple of loose ends of wires hanging in various locations that I suspect were or still are connected to those switches. Sounds like a project for this weekend.

There are four wires in the engine bay on the driver's side. These allow you to connect small amp devices without having to run wires into the cab. Kind of cheesy to me but if you needed a relay wire they would work easily.

I been running a PSD since 2004, traded that one for my 2006. I got 254k on this one and it's going to last me. So if you want to keep it around just keep asking questions I'll help as best I can. :howdy::welcome:

254K on your 2006!! I am impressed. https://www.dieselbombers.com/images/smilies/tu.gif I would like to accomplish this on mine. Cost too D@mn much to replace or buy new.

You bet I will stay in touch with you and others to learn as much as I can to give this baby a long and healthy life. Got lots of places to go. Got lots to consider with just the info you have provided. I had better get to work on this. Over and out.
