6.0 litre Power stroke won't start??

Well maintained vehicle. Started nicely (as always) drove to a neighbour and when time to come home it would not start. Turned over, lots of battery power. Fully fueled yesterday. Last year had JD gator diesel that would not start, replaced air filter and pushed a reset button(on air system??) and ran nicely. Pushed the Ford reset button on air system but could not get reset to depress. The window is clear, should it show green or yellow ?? Does this should like an air flow problem?? Any ideas most appreciated2004 F250 Super Duty crew 4x4 173000km

How long did it sit between going in and coming back out? Have you tried letting it sit overnight and then trying to fire it?

Basics, check fuel pump, should hear it running with key on. Pull filter cap on secondary filter and make sure it fills. You can easily check ficm voltage, under 48 v not going to fire injectors. If you can access a scan tool check for codes and injector graph if capable.

Tried it the next morning, same result.
Called auto club and towed vehicle to garage. Computer says the high pressure oil pump is pooched and without that the truck will not start. New part a mere $1500 plus install. Elected to go with used part for $200 bucks. if it too fails have moneyleft to do it again and again ...what is with ford? ||They changed this deisgn for the 2004 models but as mine is an early 2004 still have the old style pump. Not impressed, two egr valves, inter cooler and now this since last summer. This appears to be an engine with s lot of problems.
Got to fix it or i own scrap but enough is enough

It is the same pump for all of 03 and all of 04, they changed the pump in 05.
those pumps are $585 at the dealer, you can get a billet pump from Diesel Site.com for $1000, they are guaranteed forever and are very nice units.

Hpops on those are total junk. It is a very outdated injection system that was never really any good to begin with IMO.

m original pump was in my truck for 270k, then I put it in my nephews truck and it is still going. I updated my truck to the 05 and later style pump.

Bob, when you updated you had to do rails and up tubes? Doesn't that open a new can of worms with possible leaks? In your opinion would the Billet pump be a better option for the early design? I'm happy with my stock setup at almost 200,000 but would like to know the best fix if it goes. My girlfriend asked me why I like spankin imports at 2 lane stop lights. Told her cuz I can!

For most people the billet pump is the way to go.
main reason I did the update is because I had all the parts, I have 2 spare motors I got cheap because they needed a little love and $$. I pulled my motor to go ahead and do head studs before they failed, I know I was pushing it with the towing I do, since I was pulling the motor I went ahead and changed the branch tube, rocker boxes, oil rails, stand pipes, HPOP, valve covers-needed to clear the newer oil rails, then I unwrapped the wiring for the ICP sensor and branched those wires out to and wrapped them with wire loom and they were able to reach the new ICP location. I always recommend for people with 03 and early 04 trucks to replace their intake with a 05 and up one, it makes life so simple afterwords, especially if they are doing a EGR delete then you can cut the tab off the back where the EGR cooler bolts up, this allows you to pull the intake without removing the turbo.
