F150 cummins swap 4bt/6bt

I've been looking to swap a diesel into my truck but not sure if I'll get enough power. I have a 2004 F150 FX4 5.4 with 3.73ls has edge evo, cai, duel atraight pipes. as of next week it will be on a rcx 6" and either on 35 or 37. I was looking at putting in a 4bt or 6bt but not sure if ill get the power I need. It's my dd but also my mud truck. I'm usually in mud almost covering my 33s. Has anyone done this swap or know anyone who can give good advice. Sorry if this isn't clear

probably the best site for you to look at is 4btswaps.com if you get a Ppumped 6bt you can have all the power you will need, torque is where you will get the kick in the pants feel. you will have double the torque you have now. It is expensive to do this swap, and it takes several months to do it right. if you don't have a complete donor truck you would save money by just buying a diesel truck. I did a 6bt in a 92 chevy crewcab dually and it had plenty of power.

Thanks for that. And I have a junk yard near by and my sister is high up at UPS so I might be able to uses one off of the trucks they get rid of. How much does it cost around total. The salvage yard wants 700 for a 4bt.

that is a great price for a running 4bt, normally they go for 1500-2000, now if you find one with a Ppump snag it up because you can get more power out of them easier. alot of the expense comes from the trans and making the rest of the drivetrain work together.

Ok thanks and how do I tell if it has a p-pump or not? Sorry just getting into diesel. And I do a fair amount of muding so the 4bt or the 6bt should be more than enough right?

And I've heard that if I do a 4bt/6bt swap it voids emissions. So what would I have to do to make it road legal? Thanks
