Oil Filter Standpipe question

I am just starting to put my 03 6 liter SD back together as I have done the EGR delete, New oil cooler, coolant filtration kit, blue spring kit and FICM repair plus an atlas tune.

When I pulled my oil filter housing, my stand pipe did not have a spring on the upper portion of the stand pipe as I see in all of the videos on youtube. Well, I got a wild hair up my butt and decided to put my leveling kit on today. I found a spring under my truck?????? I think it may go to my oil filter stand pipe, but I"m not sure. It for sure did not have the spring on it when I pulled my filter off the truck and it's too small, or it seems too small to fit over the stand pipe, but it easily fits inside the stand pipe?????? It's a shinny light brass color and about as long as my index finger.

Can anyone help me?

there is a spring that sits inside at the top of the filter tower. Ive seen them missing too, doesn't seem to change anything. Theyre not near as long as a finger tho. Is it real small like a fpr spring?

OK, I figured it out... I was kind of stressed about it, then I realized where my mystery spring came from. I broke the Air intake resistance sensor when I took off my intake kit. That spring looks like it can fit in the oil standpipe..nope;) Glad I figured it out. Back to the grind;)

Thanks for the help!

Just make sure you have the plunger in the top of that standpipe, it is a bypass for the filter system and if it is missing then it can cause issues. Just use your finger and push down on the center of standpipe and you will see the plunger work.not the fuel pressure spring is it ??

NO, it was the spring inside the air restriction filter sensor.
