Oil cooler after egr delete questions

Ok I've already deleted the egr and rebuilt the oil cooler and switched to elc with full flush, coolant filter and all that. My question is just for my curiosity sake. Without the egr to flash boil and blow head gaskets, what are the other downfalls of a clogged oil cooler? Obviously I know that extremely high temps will break down the oil and decrease lubrication of the engine but what about a 20 degree difference or something along thos lines? I'm just curious for future reference right now I have a 4-6 degree difference.

High oil temps can destroy orings in the oil circuits, including the injector orings, standpipe orings, dummy plug orings. it is also not good for injectors, thinned oil doesn't lubricate the injectors propery, also the injectors were built and clearenced to operate at "normal" temps. If you keep up with the coolant filter you should not have to replace the oil cooler in the future.

Thanks bob. This makes more sense now.
