Hi all- just purchased my first diesel..2006
F250 powerstroke, so far loving it. Just wanted to gain some advice on what to look out for and anything I can do to help her live a long healthy life. She has a 4" pro comp lift MX6 suspension, aef intake, 18" x 12.5 momo metal rims, amp research retractable step, leer bed cover, magnaflow exhaust, and 61,000 miles.

Welcome to DB. :c:

First thing is first, gauges! A Scan Gauge II is pretty inexpensive (requires some inputs from you though) and plugs directly into the ODB II port. IMO, the most important thing to watch are the engine coolant and engine oil temps. When these get up a 15* spread cruising highway speed, unloaded, flat and level, it's time for a new oil cooler. Bad things happen fast if the oil cooler goes bad unchecked.

A coolant filter is never a bad idea, especially if your oil/coolant temps are good. Some throttle response can be had removing the EGR cooler, but then you're going to need an SCT to turn off the Check Engine Light.

Once you have determined that your oil cooler is good shape, get an SCT and select a custom tune. I like Gearheads' SRL tune. There are plenty of tunes out there for non studded trucks.

Speaking of studs, mine is at 105K, tuned up, hot rodded, and when it pushes a head gasket is when it's getting studded. But that's just me.

The blue spring is a good idea, and a fuel psi gauge is as well.

Finally, not to be a jerk, but all of these items have been beat into the ground at one time or another here. That being said, I recommend using the search engine if you have questions about any of this.
