No Start sometimes.

Ok guys I need some help. I got a 2004 f250 and i will start and run it in the morning and after i shut it off sometimes it wont start back up. i get fuel pressure control too low. so i bought the icp sensor and pigtail from ford. put that in and it ran great shut it off no start same code. what else could cause that.:argh::dang:

Sounds like a high pressure oil leak, do you have an early build 04 or a late build/ befor or after 9/22/03, it should be listed on drivers door frame. if late 04 then most likely dummy plugs and standpipes, if you are going to be under valve covers it makes sense to change at same time.
An air test will really help narrow it down.

Its a late 04 but Mike from diesel outfitters told me that its my stc fitting leaking oil. so i think it right cause the back of the engine has oil all over it coming from there.

The 04 won't have the STC fitting, it is only on 05 and up trucks. but your 04 will have the newer style oil rails that have the problems with the dummy plugs and standpipes. The HPOP is under a cover and when they leak they are internal leaks and you won't/can't see any oil from the outside. A leaky oring on the IPR valve could cause oil on the back of the motor. On early 04 trucks it is common to get oil on back of the motor from a faulty ICP sensor, oil will come right through them.

ok that sounds good. so that leak by the plugs would that cause the truck to not run or start after it has warmed up.

Yes, when the oil is hot and thin it escapes past the bad seals easier and the HPOP has to produce at least 525psi for the truck to start, it is a very common problem. Tousley Ford sells the kit with standpipes and dummy plugs for $102

you will need a 10mm allen to remove the old ones and a 12mm allen to install the new ones. FYI

Ok thanks for the help. I will order that and get them installed and let you know if that worked.

So ya gunna try the plugs and stand pipes? To bad you couldn't start it and drive it over here without damage

bobfbigman 02-01-2013 10:31 PM

You said you put a new ICP sensor and pigtail on, was that behind the turbo or on the pass side valve cover??

Passenger valve cover
