blowing white..blue smoke
New to this forum, hope someone can help. First diesel 05' F350 6.0 Installed EGR Delete kit/injectors/oil press switch. Head gasket checked out good. Oil is leaking out the tailpipe and blowing wt/bl smoke. Any ideas?

Could be a failed turbo seal. Are you SURE it's oil, and not just wet soot? I've seen egr coolers fail and when the coolant makes it's way into the exhaust, it mixes with the soot in there and looks like oil...

blow white smoke
It look like soot.I drove three months with bad egr cooler.the truck blows white/blue smoke before and after delete kit
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Low rpm smoke real bad and at stop lights.after I get the rpm up turbo spools up the smokes gone |
I wouldn't be to worried about it just keep an eye on things:c:

So your saying let the truck blow whit smoke blue and i went through four quarts oil four days
|
hey i didnt say that i said it might no be a worry i didnt see anything about goin through 4 quarts in four days thats what i ment by keeping an eye on things now somethings deff wrong
|
Ya deff I did watch the oil looks like getting better but not really done lot work still at same place I was think it's turbo do u know if I can fix seal on turbo or new...Thank u for the help
|
It really depends on what you want to do...the seals are fixable but hows the rest of the internals of your turbo....would it just make more sense to buy a new stock turbo or upgrade it all depends on what your looking to do and what you want your bill to look like haha

I just spent $3000 on delete kit thank u for quick answers try new turbo
|
Turbo seals aren't that hard to change out if you're handy... does take patients to get all that done.

Getting back to Engines 101 TYPICALLY smoke can be labeled as such:
Blue: oil, as simple as an o-ring or valve seal Black: fuel, as in rich/soot. HOWEVER, both times I stuck an injector, the last thing it did was blow grey smoke from the excessive fuel being dumped into the cylinder and not burning. White: coolant My input is this: coolant (leftover from running with a bad EGR cooler) + soot could look like oil. But, that you went through four quarts of oil in four days does point at an oil leak. Before I kicked out the $ for a new turbo, I'd pull it off, clean it up internally (great how-to vids on you tube) and replace the seals. |
I will try new seal I can do the work I don't know how to diagnose diesel .

Well I put new turbo in took care of smoking.......now turbo spools up slow then starts too pulse...any feed back would b good....thank u
