Plasti Dip

Im sure some of you know about plasti dip. I was planning on powder coating my wheels cause that chrome on these fuels is so prone to pitting. Figured id plasti dip them and see how it looks and holds up. I must say for 25 bucks it looks great.

I've been a painter for years and I'm on the fence as to whether or not I like the temporary nature of Plasti-Dip. I don't know anything about Fuel wheels so I have to ask: Is it the chrome pitting or are those wheels polished and it's the aluminum that is pitting?

I think it's ironic that the top pic has a bright shine on the tires/wheels/tint and the lower does not. Almost like the black darkened the entire truck. :c:

Well the top pic was from when I first bought the truck. Even with cleaning them once a week the pitting set it. I was fighting a loosing battle. Its chrome and its pitting bad. If I would of taken a picture today before I painted them you would have seen how bad they were getting. Also that day was a fresh wash and wax and sunny haha today was a bit overcast and truck is dirty. I noticed that also after I posted.

Is that brush on, or spray?

spray

plasti-dip is basically a vinyl coating in a aerosol can guys, really cool stuff. Spray on like spray paint, if you don't like it, wait til it drys, peel it off like a vinyl sticker. Some people paint their entire cars with it. I've seen a 1 series BMW completely plasti-dipped flat white. Looked cool.

Curry, maybe Karl's right and it's just because of the difference in pics, but your truck is one of the first I've really liked the chrome wheels on. Your first pic looks awesome.

Did you use any of the glossifier with your plasti-dip, or is it just the standard flat?
