Are 6.0 Ford heads reversible??
Sorry, did not make a very good thread title for the previous posting.
Should it make any difference if the heads are reversed after a top-end re-work? We noticed that the heads had a L and an R stamped on them but they were not originally installed that way. We reversed them, making sure that the fuel galley end-plugs were reversed. Everything seemed to go back together OK with no mismatched holes in the head gasket. On careful inspection they look the same??:humm::humm::humm: |
They are the same, the galley plugs are the only thing to change.

Whew!!! After the top end rebuild it is not starting and I thought, "oh, s..t, I shouldn't have switched heads. Thanks, Bob.
It is off to a tech who has a good diagnosis instrument. We have cranked that puppy for probably 30-40 30 second bursts (=15-20 cranking) and nary a pop. Checked all connections. Any random thoughts?? (it ran semi-ok before the tear-down but had a blown head gasket) And BTW, do you live on your computer? :c::c::c: |
I just saw this and answered in the other post. I concur with Bob.
Bob does NOT live on his computer, I'm here A LOT and sometimes Bob is hard to find. :c: |
6.0 head interchangeability
Thanks, Karl. I gues it just seems that way because he seems to be everywhere.
And thanks, Bob. |
I'm here I'm here,,,, No I just get bored and I make sure I check here several times..
Have you checked your low pressure oil to make sure you are getting pressure? is the guage moving? if not then pull the oil filter and hold the plunger down with a screwdriver or even just use the filter without the cap and hold it down while someone cranks it over to see if the housing fills up. The plunger is very fragile and it wouldn't take much to break it. double check your connections over on the drivers side wheel well, I would pull each one apart and reconnect it and make sure it clicks, also if you pulled any of the connections on the computer do the same thing as the pins are short and if isn't seated all te way it won't start. Also does your truck have security system? I remember someone having an issue because the Bats. were disconnected for a while. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Oh yeah, I am kind of a night owl so you won't see me post too much in the AM unless it is like 1 or 2am:c::c::c: |
