Here we go again. No power issue.

Ill start from the beginning. I went to start my truck after work. It cranked over really slow, then click.I knew my batteries are good I just had them tested and they tested good both of them. So I figured it was the starter. I get the starter out and the cable was corroded off the starter post and I dropped the starter down and the gear and shaft fell right out. Starter is definitely bad so I changed it and bought a new cable from the battery to starter. Hooked the batteries back up and it cranked over good and started right up. Great fixed or so I thought. I let it warm up and proceeded to drive home. Driving down the road the truck was shifting funny and running different, I just figured it was because I just unhooked the batteries and it needed to go through the computer and relearned everything or something. I drove it about 200 miles so far and still no power and it still shifts weird. Any thoughts please let me know. And also sorry for this post being so long I just wanted to cover all the bases. Thanks. Josh.

The truck starts right up but runs rough at first and still runs like crap until it is completely warmed up.

Mdub sorry I never called I was pretty busy that weekend. I hope you will he around soon so we could try to figure this thing out it is driving me nuts. I almost traded it in but I figure I will give it another chance.

I am just an ignorant new owner I guess. Mine runs OK on startup for idle, but has now power and will not up-shift when cold. In my ignorance I thought this was just normal for a diesel (this is my first) and figured I need to warm it up before driving. Am I wrong? If so, I will follow this thread to see what the solution is :)

I don't think it is normal because my truck never did this when I first got it. I used to be able to just start it up and drive away. This is something that keeps getting progressively worse. The problem with the truck starting did not start when I changed the starter just the no power issue. My truck used to have tons of power before. Does anyone know if it is possible for a tune not to return to stock when I take the tune out of it. I don't know maybe this is the power my truck is supposed to have but I doubt it. Just don't seem right. Josh

Josh, I would try putting the truck back to stock tuning, drive it and see if you notice a difference, then go ahead and re-tune it. I've been told if the batteries are off of the truck long enough the PCM just resets itself.

I will be around Saturday morning, the 22nd of december through the 2nd of January. I will have my AE with me as well so we can hook the truck up and start monitoring some things. I've already got another 03 from Saratoga area I have to check out and do a FICM swap on too lol.

These trucks do some really funny things with low voltages, including shifting funny. Seeing as your starter cable was in such bad shape, I can't help but wonder if you've got some other cables corroded? Check the ground connections on the batteries.

Hey Mike thanks for replying. my truck isn't running a tune. I sold my Sct tuner and am thinking about getting a new one soon. I cleaned the terminals the best that I could. My truck just isn't running right. I haven't run it with a tune in it since the beginning of summer. I would really appreciate that if you would help me out this weekend I will definitely call you. I will make time for you to take a look at it. I really need this thing fixed so I look forward to talking to you.:tu:

Ok, so no tune and it still feels low on power, gotcha. We can definitely take a look.
