R and R on the high pressure oil pump

Hello all,
ok i have a couple questions for anyone who has replaced a high pressure oil pump. I have been working on cars since i was 15. I repair inboard ski and wakeboard boats. Is this job impossible without knowing exactly what you are doing. I have a watched a couple you tube vids and doesnt seem to bad just tedious. I would be doin it on a truck we have at work. I also have a 6.0 so i kinda want to learn so i can do it to mine if and when it happens. Any things to look out for? Any tips and tricks? let me know what you guys think

Thanks
Aaron

What year is the truck you're going to be working on? If it's an 05+, do the updated STC fitting while you're right there, and I'd highly recommend also doing the dummy plugs and stand pipes. You should have no problem doing these, not hard at all.

Thanks for the info!! Its an 03. Ill look into the other parts if i end up doing it.

If it's an 03 don't worry about the other parts, they are for 05 and up trucks. The first time it might take you 8 hours, the next time it might only take you 4 hours.

if your really good you can do it without pulling the intake and egr cooler. i took all that out my first time going in there and it took a good 10 hours to get it out. and it blew man.

if you can do it without pulling the intake and egr it will only take a few hours to get to it. the only bad part about putting it back together is lining up the turbo exhaust inlet. i cracked my y pipe putting mine back in. and i have no mount bolts holding it in.

best of luck bud

The trick to lining up the ypipe on turbo is to loosen both uppipes at the exhaust manifold, just get them loose enough to be able to manuver the ypipe into position, yes it is 4 more bolts to loosen but in the end it saves alot of time, especially if you are by youreself.

Yes, I agree. I loosen EVERYTHING I can to get that y-pipe seated properly the first shot. I loosen the up-pipes at the manifolds, the turbo mount bolts, the down pipe... literally everything.
