Best EGR delete for the $$$ ?

No emissions testing here, so what is the best EGR delete for the $$$, and should I replace the oil cooler as well? I just purchased the truck today (06 F-350) so I have not noticed any problems... this is in the nature of a pre-emptive strike to improve durability of my 6.0.

Also, unrelated questions:

Is the stock boost gauge a real boost gauge or is it just a guestimate of boost based on air flow like the fake boost gauge in most turbocharged cars?

And finally, what is that weird little hook thing built into the dash under the radio? I asked salesman and he didn't know, and I don't see it in the owners manual.

Anything else I need to look out for if I plan on staying at stock power levels for now? I know head studs are a must if I plan on power upgrades.

Thanks,

Keith

Most EGR deletes are basically the same, I have heard a LOT of good things about companies that weld the cooler shut rather than remove it (not sure about others but I know BulletProof Diesel has a lifetime warranty against failure). DEFINITELY replace the oil cooler for good measure and install a coolant filter. The hook is a bag hook, mine has a grocery bag hanging off of it but it's useless for anything bigger. A far as other mods, keep an eye on your fuel pressure (45psi and under will destroy injectors), EGTs (1400°+ sustained and you chance sending your engine into a catastrophic meltdown) and as far as the boost gauge, it's iffy, I've noticed that mine is off by as much as 7psi (then again ISSPRO gauges are super sensitive) but it's ok for a mild truck

Welcome to DB Keith. Just stick around and keep reading, most of the stuff you're looking for gets answered on a daily basis here.

The hook thing... never really figure it out myself. I'd be interested to know what it's purpose was supposed to be haha
