Please Help after egr delete and oil cooler replacement!
 

After spending ALL day yesterday doing oil cooler rebuild and egr delete I am now getting a p2284 code and a surge. The surge is worst while overdrive is set and it backs off throttle coming down a hill motor sounds like a miss and it bucks some. I've put 135 miles on it thinking it may be trapped air. Do I need to keep driving it or start looking at other problems? Everything worked fine before except eot was about 30-40 degrees more than ect. Thank y'all so much.

Most likely your IPR is either toast, or partial clogged screen, or damaged screen.

When you did your oil cooler, cleaning out the HPOP resiviour caused dirt/debris to get into the HPOP and found its way into the IPR sensor.

Is it possible to pull the ipr without pulling the turbo and intake?

Yes, unbolt the degas bottle (two 8mm bolts) and carefully pull toward the driver side fender, so it's out of the way.

Now carefully unplug the FICM wire harness, then unbolt the the FICM from the valve cover.

Remove the heat shield from behind turbo to gain access to IPR.

You will need a socket designed to remove the IPR, you can either buy one or make one. The special socket has a "cut out slot" to slide past the electric plug. IIRC it's 1 3/8 socket.

Not much room back there to swing or pull on a ratchet, you can try having the handle on the ratchet pointing up, then take a rope around handle and pull on rope while your standing in front of truck.

It's tight getting your hands/arms back in there.

When you goto plug back in your FICM harness, be sure to get the plugs in straight.
