ford 6.0 injector size ??? help
hey im new to the diesel game and i have a question about the cc of injector i should go. i have a 2005 ford 6.0 with arp studs 5 inch turbo back egr delete and soon to get a sct tuner. i am wondering if i should get stock or 155 cc injectors for everyday drive and some times light towing. i also want to know if i need to upgrade my fuel system with 155 cc thanks

Well a fuel pressure gauge would be a good start, and you'll certainly want one if you upgrade injectors. Some guys can run 190's and have no issues with fuel, others have issues on stock injectors and a hot tune, so you really need the gauge to know for sure.
As for injector size... well that's up to you. You could certainly get 155's and do light towing and daily driving without issues. You could go higher too if you wanted. I would plan on doing a fuel system though anyways. |
What Should my fuel pressure be at. How hard would it be to upgrade the fuel pumped around how much you think it would be
|
Should be at least 55psi or so. Ford says under 45psi is damaging injectors.
Depends what you want to do for a fuel system. Are you just going to add a pusher pump to the stocker? Delete the whole setup and go with an AD2 or what? You can spend as little as probably $600 or so on a pusher, I think the AD2 is probably closer to $700, or you can do a full setup like a sump feeding into a an AD150 pusher feeding a fuel lab pump running up to the heads and have a regulated return up on top. There's more than one way to skin a cat here. If you're keeping it mild, a pusher pump feeding the stocker is probably the best bet right now. A regulated return certainly wouldn't hurt the cause either. |
What is the cheapest and best way to go to fuel the 155 is there anyway stock system will handel 155 cc if I get the fuel pressure gage to check my psi

About how dos an under hood gas pressure gauge run.
|
Cheap isn't the way you want to go when you're sending the life blood to a very expensive set of injectors.
I would do a fuel pressure gauge and an AD150 feeding the stock pump, as well as the blue spring upgraded in the factory bowl and 6.4 banjo bolts at a minimum. Whitman, depends what gauge you go with. Gauges are something you definitely get what you pay for though. I think I paid around $135 for my Isspro EV2 0-100psi gauge. |

Agree with Karl, you don't want a mechanical fuel pressure gauge... go electric.

ok sounds good what size nozzle should i go ?
|
I really can't offer and advice on what size to go with, I have no clue what you plan on doing with the truck, or what your HP goals are...
155/50 is a very popular injector size though... |
i would like 450 maybe 500 hp what do you think
|
A 155/50 would be a good upgrade, but you'll need to upgrade the turbo to match to get your power goals. You could probably bust 450 with 155's and a stock turbo though. 175/75's and a good turbo would also be a good combo to get the 500 consistently. Something like a MTW stage 3 with the 175's. The 155's and a hybrid or stage 2 would be good.

ford the 450 mark witch seems alot easy to get to what size nozzle on the 155s and do you think tunes tho mkm is good or who should i go throw thanks ??
|
155/50's or 155/75's. Talk to the tuner and see what they recommend. Who's injectors are you planning on using? Might not hurt to talk to them too.
I'd use Innovative Diesel or Matt at Gearhead for your tuning personally. There have been some negative reviews of MKM even tuning for stock trucks, doubt they do anything with bigger sticks. Just my opinion... |
ok sounds good i will call Innovative about the tuning and im just rebuilding my injectors just cross the boarder...i live in Canada
