Fuel Leak

Hey Guys:
2005 Ford F250 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 - 6.0 Power Stroke (Stock) 188,000 miles
Used mainly for shuttling kids to out of town sports tournaments and around town.

I have been smelling diesel fumes for the last week and now see drips on the driveway and other parking spots. Looks like it is dripping from the back half of the engine down and off the oil pan.......

Could this be coming off the top of the engine under the Turbo, maybe a gasket or something simple???

Appreciate any suggestions - I am handicapped and can't climb up on top of the engine to try and nail it down. Do have a very busy future son-in-law that could do something simple..... any idea's???

I doubt it's coming from back there, there's not really any way for fuel to be back there. It runs up the frame rail from the pump to the filter housing on top of the engine, which is sitting right in the front. From there lines split off and go to the front of the heads... that's it. A common leak point is the front of that housing, there is a "cover" there that has an o-ring that occasionally leaks. If that's it, it's a good time for the blue spring upgrade (bumps fuel pressure up a touch, which is GOOD for our injectors life). Another common leak point is the fuel filter cap itself. There is an o-ring there, and the cap itself is plastic and can crack and leak. Should be something your son-in law can chase down for sure.
