F350 2006 upgrades

Im looking to do a couple more minor upgrades for power. I already have coldair intake, intake manifold elbow, blue spring and banjo bolt up grade, colant filter, edge cts just for gauges, egr delete, 4 inch straight pipe, and sct custom tune 135hp. Is there anything else I can really do to get some good power:rocking:. Thanks guys

Who's tuning are you using now?

Jay c 10-09-2012 11:02 AM

I wanna say it was looney tunes I got it from my friends dad who had all the same stuff as me. Does that sound right?

Mdub707 10-09-2012 11:34 AM

Yeah probably pretty old at this point. That would be Vivians tuning, you can still get tunes from her at Quick Trick Automotive.

Ideally they should be for your truck, matching the mods is nice, but not every truck shares the same strategy.

Any idea where you're at for power now? A custom tuned truck should be in the 420-430rwhp area. How much more do you want? How much are you looking to spend? Not really a lot you can do now without taking a bigger step, something like a small turbo upgrade would probably be next. ARP studs should be on the checklist soon too.

I already have the arp head studs in my garage. I'm looking for around 450 to 475 rwhp I'm going to buy the garett powermax tonight. I know I have to get new tunes for that don't I. Also would the PM give u much more power. And not much more than 2 grand. I know the studs will be about 3,750 I already had a quote on it and the guy sends the heads off

You definitely need new tuning for the PM. From everything I've read it's a tricky turbo and might need a few different tries with the tuning, but they've been out long enough to get it right now. For 475ish hp... you're going to want studs. They seem to be at the threshold now with just a hot tune in the 425rwhp area.

I'd look into the MTW hybrid or stage 2 turbo honestly. You can probably get close to those numbers on stock injectors, but it's pushing the envelope. If you don't want to spend more than $2k, injectors are out of the question though. I'd probably go with the hybrid myself... MTW Hybrid - Information & Purchase

Does it still have that wicked whistle to it (mtw hybrid)?

Mdub707 10-09-2012 02:03 PM

I'm pretty sure the PM is the king for whistle... but I thought you were going for power on a budget...

It may or may not, honestly I'm not sure. My guess would be it will only have that whistle if you send him an 03 turbo to have it built from, since the back half of the turbo is just a stock 6.0 turbo.

What is it that makes the hybrid do good the size of the compresser? And is it still a vgt turbo?

Mdub707 10-09-2012 03:19 PM

Yeah it's basically a stock 6.0 turbo with a bigger impeller on it (housing is machined to accept it). The hybrid in particular uses a billet wheel which is stronger and lighter (spools faster). Yes it's still VGT. Bolt on for the 6.0 (since it's basically most of the parts of a stock 6.0 charger). They hybrid is probably very comparable to the PM, except for the billet wheel. There are a ton of good threads posted about almost all of the MTW turbos and what they've done power wise on powerstrokearmy.com
