Should I be concerned?

I've top my reservoir off a couple of days ago and I popped my hood this morning and saw this. In the picture you can see the overspray of coolant around the reservoir and current coolant level. I'm just unsure of what head gasket failure signs look like. Is this something that I should be concerned with or am I just worrying to much? Lol

First off, go to Napa and get a new coolant cap ($4.99 IIRC). The stock cap on these trucks are garbage, I haven't seen a 6.0 with a stock cap in a looong time. Although boiling over is a tell tale sign of a gasket failure, a popped HG is not only thing that will cause puking out of the Degas bottle. Do you see any smoke other than black coming out of the pipe (white or gray is a guaranteed failure)? If the new cap doesn't solve the problem then you can start diagnosing for compromised gaskets, blown EGR cooler, or a clogged oil cooler.

Also each truck has it's own "level", don't add anymore coolant but monitor it, if it stays the same then you are good. adding too much coolat will cause it to puke no matte what and once these caps have popped off pressure they are about junk, replace the cap but don't add coolant / only to min line also/ and see what it does.

Okay this is a new cap and ever since I've owned the truck the coolant level has always stayed there. I've added coolant several times but it always goes back to where its at now as shown in the picture. Also I just replaced oil cooler when I did EGR delete about a month ago. It's still nothing other than black smoke. I haven't notice any grey or white smoke. Thanks for the input!

Man, it sounds like you dodged a bullet there!!! Headgaskets is an expensive fix.:run:

You probably just got her a little too hot.

The min line is actually the max coolant line with these 6.0s If it dont fall much below that the you should be ok. My truck runs just below the min line. If I fill it up it will just push it out till it levels off again.

My last truck, 04 f250 PSD, did the same thing. Thinking the degas bottle was defective, I bought a new one and replaced the old. It still leveled off on its own. I just left it alone and it never went down past the min level. :c:
