Overdrive studdering

So I have an 05 6.0 176000 miles no mods. Posted a couple of days ago about the lieometer trying to run me out of gas. Anyway took it on the interstate today ran good for first hour cruising about 80 then I noticed when I hit the gas to pass someone it wouldn't kick out of overdrive and go it just bounced and studdered. I would ease off the gas and it would smooth out an accelerate but no get up and go. Any ideas guys

Is it not down shifting or is the converter not unlocking? There is a difference, about 45 mph the converter locks up (even thought it feels like a gear change), with enough pressure to accelerate, it un-locks the converter, THEN downshifts from 6th to 5th. The 5R110 is a 6 speed, but it usually skips 4th with a normal shift pattern of 1-2-3-5-6-converter lock.

So, is your truck unlocking the converter, but not down shifting to 5th, or is it not unlocking the converter at all?

Man if I had to guess I would say the converter isn't unlocking like it was trying to downshift but something wouldn't let it so it was just bouncing trying to. How would I know for sure. Could it be throwing a code. Did it last week pulling a trailer to the dump.

Next time you're cruising down the highway, and you want to try and unlock the converter, tap the brake pedal with your left foot. Don't let off the throttle. RPM's should jump up and it will unlock the converter.

Usually studdering at highway speeds is sticky injectors believe it or not. Took me a long time to realize that it was my injectors acting up and not my transmission.

I do have an injector problem haven't addressed yet. Took it on interstate today and didn't have a problem with it floored it and she took off

I'm always surprised how many things that would ordinarily point to the transmission are actually injector issues. I usually think trans because I grenaded one.

I drove it down highway tapped brake and the converter unlocked no problem definantley injectors. Anybody know a cheap place to get some tires. E rated nobby mud terrain looking

Try some rev-x for your injector issues.

Do you tow a ton? I hated the E series tires on mine. I went with D rated, which have just as high of a numerical load rating, but ride way nicer. Check the numbers on the tires, you can find D rated tires with just as high and in some cases even higher than the E.

There are no such things as cheap mud tires for these trucks haha. I went with Pro-Comp X A/T's this time around, like them a lot. I do a lot of highway driving, all mixed weather, and occasionally go offroad. They perform very well thus far. I think I paid right around $1250 shipped for all 4. It was buy 3 get one free time of year too, which I think is coming up real soon. Plus they're made in USA, and have a 40k mile tread warranty. :c:
