Sounds like you either drive your truck like an old lady, or leave it parked a lot. Or let it idle for absurd amounts of time. Turbo fart isn't an "issue" btw, it will do that no matter what since there is no wastegate or BOV. My guess is a $150 EGR delete, and a free "high idle mod" wire up would have saved you almost all of those issues. :c:

I'm glad you like your cummins.

Oh and I forgot the blown headgasket also (that was the last straw). The engine was completely stock, except for a Volant CAI, and no programers or power tunes. I do like my cummins for reliability. The front (face) of the truck is butt ugly and I'll probably never get used to it. My Ford was lifted and beautiful, just problematic at best. My Ford had that bad ass "GET THE F*CK OUT OF MY WAY" look and I do miss it. Thats why my next project will be another Ford, but with a cummins twist. Im not bagging Ford. Im just not a fan of the 6.0 Power Stroke. I had heard that the Power Stroke had been improved in the later years but was just alittle "gun shy." Plus, that was my first ever diesel truck. I couldnt do the EGR delete or anything b/c it was under warranty at the time.
I will get another 04-06 lifted f250 or f350, but it will be my project truck. I just have to sell my vette first.

This is my first diesel truck ever too. I know it can be overwhelming. I've had the same issues, I just decided to stick it out, learn them in and out, and fix them the right way. Most of my issues stemmed from incompetent technicians that Ford calls "diesel techs" who don't know squat.

Oh yea I forgot the last couple days every so often my boost gauge would show 3 pounds of boost at idle

Ok so I just drove my truck to the store and my egr cooler took a shit I'm pretty sure it did it blew a big cloud of white smoke and the is no coolant in the degas bottle and its over heating

Oh CRAP! Dont get me started on those so called "technicians." Redlands Ford, in Redlands California, has got to be the birth place of IDIOTS. Thats where I bought my truck and thats where I fought my battles with those "techs". The service Mgr was the only one who didnt try to shovel bull sh*t down my throat. He actually encouraged me to follow through with the Lemon Law claim. I was literally afraid to drive my truck for fear that i would be stranded again and again.
I swallowed my pride and tried a Dodge Cummins, and by golly it gets the job done. Took a while to get used to that "Farm tractor sound" tho.
Youre a better man than me for sticking it out, or full of patience. Kudos.

It shouldn't be reading any boost at idle. Could be egr cooler, could also be head gaskets. Especially since the turbo was sticking.

Masochist..........well I guess that pretty much covers it. I hope you get things worked out. I cringe just thinking about it. Dont rule out a cummins conversion........just saying. :c:
