Intermediant power loss rough idle

I have 2 2005 6.0l with this issue, one has had all 8 injectors done, other I just did the oil rail o rings and plugs. Seems with the one I did the injectors on, will loose power and chug, then when you floor it, it clears up. No cel, haven't been able to throw a scanner on it, but it doesn't seem like and hpo issue, some how an injector?

im having the same problem. have you fixed it yet?

Could very well be an injector. What injectors did you use? Could have one loosened up in the hole. I know a lot of guys on the forums have said they've seen them loosen up after reinstall using Ford's torque spec, so most torque a little past that.

one was a fuel pump...

so now i'm putting together the what was a 05 6.0l but had a 04 swapped in, ended up being a IPR o ring, but now i have a big bump in the road, i put my LPOP parts in a tray. when i went to assemble things and clean things, there was this small spring 1 1/4" X 3/8" silver spring just chilling out in my tray, looks identical to the pressure relief spring but half the length, and i dont rememeber ever seeing one spring like this loose in my 6.0l days, and i dont think it fell out of the air. hope i'm not loosing it.

Check FICM

Bob442 08-28-2012 10:17 PM

the first one was also a STC fitting, stand tubes, and dummy plugs

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

well, second truck had the small IPR o ring with a tear in it. i replaced ALL HPOP seals, stand tubes, and dummy plugs. i also flushed out the oil cooler, SS HPOP screen, and EGR delete, i did not do a tune as i didnt have a tuner. NEW PROBLEM. while in cruise, and nice n hot it does this surge, you can hear the injectors stop firing (Odviously) no hot start issues, or any missing, just this god damn surge while cruising, that and i get this little chug after letting off heavy acceleration, i was thinking it might be because the EGR is not there any more.
I did some snooping in the inter net and some said it was the EGR being all carbon'd up, and a bad ICP. well i have no EGR any more, and the ICP i had on and off about 5 times with a wrench, maybe i damaged it. I will have to get ahold of a scanner and see the values and if they move. but any suggestions? i really dont wanna tell this guy it needs a FICM, because i dont think its even the issue. let me know what you think. Truck is a 2005 F250, witha 2004 motor. ICP on valve cover design. but 03 HPOP design, if that helps at all.

I will also mention the STC fitting was in good shape, so it was not replaced, it was also air checked and was air tight!

Most likely the ICP sensor, they like to surge when they are going bad, if you can scan it it should show up on there. Do the FICM test with a meter not the scanner, more accurate and only take 15-20 minutes. If the FICM is not up to spec then it can be repaired for alot less then a new one. Also pull the EBP sensor and tube/located by center of drivers side valve cover coming off the Exhaust manifold, when they clog up it causes issues too. Clean them up and reinstall.

I might know a guy who can fix FICM's.

Check the ICP with the scanner and let us know what you find.

so i guess we all agree with a 2005 f250 that doing the EGR delete without a flash or tune will not cause this issue? i tried with the EGR plugged in and unplugged, no codes on the dash, still havent got it to a good scanner though.
