Coolant problem??

I have a 2006 f350 6.0l and it is leaking coolant out of the resivor cap. I pressure tested it up to 20psi for 15 minutes and it dident drop any pressure so im not sure where to start. New cap maybe??

Well if the system holds 20psi, it means that your engine is adding MORE pressure than that and causing it to blow out. If the cap was bad, it wouldn't hold 20psi for any amount of time. Probably blown headgaskets if I had to guess.

I tested the pressure today its it pushing out over 16psi. I have egr delete and apr head studs also

Doesn't mean the gaskets are not blown, BUT, try getting a new cap first, they're not very expensive. Napa has them for like $5....

Where is your coolant level? The MIN line is the MAX you should have in when cold.

Its not the cap i tried that. I fill it to the min level but after a day of driving its way down

Which gaskets were used when the studs were put in

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

Ty769 08-20-2012 04:42 PM

Im not sure i dident put them in

I have heard of problems with the black gaskets even with studs.

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

I blew OEM ford gaskets with studs too, because Ford doesn't know how to measure flatness on a head or properly torque ARP studs apparently.

If the cap is changed, you don't have an EGR cooler and you're pushing coolant still... your headgaskets are blown. I guess it's possible the heads just have cracks too, but in this case blown gaskets are the better option.

Who did the work?

So i took the truck to the shop today and sure enough its the head gasket
