Hey FICM geru

Have you had any experience with a FICM testing fine cold but they get worse when they heat up?? chasing a demon in my truck, starts perfect when cold and sounds like new, then as it heats up it starts to run rougher and rougher. To me it sounds an acts like a high pressure oil leak but if it were that bad of a leak I would never be able to start it when it is hot, but it fires right up but IDLE sucks and it sounds like a 1970s diesel. Plenty of fuel pressure, plenty of oil pressure. It is totally oppisite of what I used to seeing where it runs crappy when cold and runs better when hot. I am going to swap FICMs and see what it does but I like my old 7pin so we will see what happens.

Now, common sense would tell us this is how it SHOULD work. Usually electrical components work fine cold then as they get heat soaked they get worse, but I really haven't seen any FICM's like that. Not saying it's not possible. Instinct tells me high pressure oil leak too, but I know you've got that covered.

Swap that other FICM on there and see what happens. Have you tried reading the voltage of the current one when it's warmed up? Could be something feeding power to the FICM too.

I LOVE the old 7 pins. My 4 pin starts a touch easier and idles quieter/smoother, but my 7 pin makes my injector stiction go completely away, go figure. Also seems to have much better throttle response. I LOVE the old 7 pins. EricC has one of the best one's I've ever had on my truck. Never heard a 6.0 idle so quiet in my life. He actually texted me a couple weeks after he got it from me asking if there was something wrong with his truck because it idled so quiet haha

It's not the FICm, the 4 pin might start a half second quicker but the symptoms are still there when it warms up. I kind of know what it is but I am in denial, 257k on original HPOP and I am sure that is the cause, pumps thicker oil good but when it thins out it can't generate enough pressure. I am going to invest in AE before I drop $1000 on a DS pump.Diesel Site has the AE for $352, is that a good price?
I figure that would explain the symptoms of a HPOil leak but it still starts when hot, I will let you know what I find out.

Haha. Yeah that's a good price on AE. I just got it myself, paid around 360 speed from KT performance on here.

Hey Bob, you can monitor that stuff with an SCT :p

One day I will fold and get the SCT but I personnaly have no complaints now. Main reason for the AE is to help out when I need it or the other 3 trucks in the family, or anyone who is close that needs some help. I feel I have been fortunate to get this long out of the pump but I want to make sure before I drop big money on something.

Yeah AE is worth every penny! I just had to bust your balls Bob haha.
