Details about these ICP numbers please

ok. when i have the scanner hooked up to my 03 it says ICPDSD(kpa) is 0, then ICPPRESS(kpa) is 250. ICP(V) is .21. When I crank it it says ICPDSD(kpa) is 10600 roughly, and ICPPRESS(kpa) is roughly 2000. What the crap do these numbers mean? Does that mean I still am having my High pressure oil leak? Cause I just got done changing the IPR and did the ICP sensor a month ago. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. It still won't fire up.

in my memory codes i have p0046, p0603 and p0113. these are not current codes. they are the memory codes. the current one i got was p1000.

a screen for the ICP Pressure Duty Cycle (%) at the top is says 25 and another spot it says 15

bobfbigman 08-03-2012 02:37 PM

it is saying desired is around 1500psi and acctual is around 290 psi, you need actuall to be at least 525psi to fire the injectors,,,
KPA to PSI Pressure Converter
What all have you replaced? and how maany miles you got on it?

Dead HPOP maybe? Looks like it's commanding high pressure oil, but it can't deliver.

bobfbigman 08-03-2012 02:47 PM

Yeah, I bet it's the pump itself, you are going to be a pro at pulling the turbo:argh::argh::argh: Have you looked into the DieselSite pump?

its an 03, 132,000 on her. I did the ICP a month and a half ago and just did the IPR and tried to fire it to see if it was the problem. Didn't fire. So now smart@ss me trying to cut corners like i should've never done, and taking it back apart and taking the pump out. Haven't looked into the pump online really. I have to get one from the dealer. I unfortunantly don't have the time to sit and wait for one to come in. In 3 weeks the family and I are leaving to Ohio. I have alot of out processing to do here at the base before i go so i need to have the truck running ASAP.

HAHA on the turbo comment Bob. lol.

bobfbigman 08-03-2012 03:07 PM

Yeah, take the pump with you to the dealer because they charge a pretty good core charge on them. Keep in mind that even after you change the pump out it takes a bit of cranking to get enough air out of the system to fire it off so make sure you have it on a battery charger or booster when trying to start it the frst time, it takes a bit. Clean the cover out real well too, spray some carb clean through the ports for the ICP and IPr to make sure there is nothing that is going to clogg the IPR screen later..

ok. thank you all for your help. one last question is, are there any hidden bolts when pulling the pump out. i've gotten down to the cover underneath the turbo and everything with having the intake off. but i never took the cover off. so i was just wondering if there are any hidden bolts in there so i don't try prying or anything and break something (that would be my luck)

bobfbigman 08-03-2012 03:51 PM

There is just one bolt that is tough, it helps to remove the clamp that holds the egr cooler to the ypipe, and you will have to use a wrench on it instead of a socket, you dn't have to remove intake-just the turbo and turbo pedestal. when you lift the cover up you have to move it toward driversside and forward to get it off. Make sure you lube the oring that sits on top of the branch tube connector, it goes up into the cover. watch the orings when you pull the branch connector tube off otp of pump and also from under pump when you remove it, alot of oil comes out and you don't want to loose the oring down into the engine.

also there are no bolts on back of cover, just 3 sides

1st Diesel 08-03-2012 04:17 PM

ok. I'm at the cover. took the intake off just to make it easier and took the cooler pipe off also. what took me two days to remove before has only taken me two hours today. I can't believe it. Glad i paid attention to the order of tearing crap out. Thanks Bob. I'll probably have it finished up tomorrow and i'll post back on here and let ya'll know if she fires. If not then i'll have some more numbers up for ya'll to check out. Thank you again.
