Yeah brother....I just posted in the regular 6.0 section on how I plan to do it and.to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to do it better or that has delt with all the sludge....I'm new to these strokes, been running the same Cummins for 14 years

Great, i have a place to hide now. Mine looks like that blue one but with a little more environmental grime mixed in. After looking at the alternatives on the market these days i'm thinking of an overhaul.

Tinkerbelle is getting long in the tooth at 13 years and 311k km or 197k ish miles.

Damn rust is an issue but it hasnt taken over yet. Need to toss the doors and put new ones on. Door locks don't work all that well. Door rubber needs replacing. The back up sensors havent worked since year one. The turn signal leaver is sticking and causing the high beam indicator light to come on. Front drive line needs some serious service. Smucked the passenger side mirror a couple of years ago and patched it with fiberglass and epoxy and black paint. There was a broken stick hanging in a bunch of trees close to the road and it nailed the back of the mirror housing at about 50mph. I just replaced a broken fuel filter that was causing crappy milage and loss of power at the top end. Granted, it was the original factory filter. :w2: When the milage went along with the flat topping about a year ago, I had all the worst posibilitys go thru my mind so i started looking for a replacement. I might have considered a suburban but only if I really really really had to. $70k ish for a 2500 4x4 suburban. yeeesh. And it doesn't have the cargo capacity the ex does. So with the ex getting factory milage again i'm inclined to stay the trip to the recyclers. It was getting a miserable 12mpg us. Back to 19+ again. Gotta love it. I dont even want to discuss the bullcrap undersized brakes ford put on. I"d like to put some stainless steel rotors on. at least they'd take the heat. It would be nice to up size them as part of the overhaul.

Overall its actually in fairly good condition. Just needs a good going over.

The fuel filler tube has been rotting out since day one. Dealer wants $300 for a new one. (Like hell, Their chances of selling me one is roughly the same as my chances of wining the lottery. Possible but highly unlikely)

I'm also thinking about putting an electric motor on the front drive and leaving the diesel intact. The set up would involve a CVT, electric clutch, AC motor coupled into the front drive shaft. I've had lots of nay sayers on that but i think its doable. :humm:

New to us but has 175 k on her so far. With a little maintenance I'm positive we will double it.

Looks nice compared to mine. Especially the wheels. The salt has eaten under the plastic coating on the rims and they look a mess.

The front bumper has some rust on it. Last owner power washed the paint off on it. It's had to see in the dark picture. Also the VT is a distraction.

I have recently become the proud owner of a 2002 7.3L Excursion that is pretty much stock. No mistakes from previous owners, and a mile from the lot it hit 100,000 miles :) Any-who... I am now on a quest to have a vehicle that will make it to 500,000 miles. I am looking to chip the truck, and am looking at the "Edge Products 15000 Evolution Programmer for Ford Powerstroke 7.3L", "Flowmaster 53073 70 Series Muffler - 3.00 Offset IN / 3.00 Offset OUT - Mild Sound", and "K&N 57-2530 Fuel Injection Performance Kit Gen2 Air Intake Kit". I'm buying the "Mobil 1 M1-601 Extended Performance Oil Filter", and "Pentius PFB59292 UltraFLOW Fuel Filter" from amazon at some spoking prices. Luckily that is not a permanent upgrade, so I'm curious if there are other suggestions. I'm not really looking for power as much as longevity and Fuel Economy. I have no lift, although I wouldn't mind lifting the front a few inches for clearance.

I'm here at the feet of the Masters, offering my undivided attention. I'd rather learn from the mistakes of others first.

I'm wrapping this truck with a Wounded Warrior print because I am part of, and support, the WWP. TO make sure I have a reliable vehicle when hauling my brethren to local events, I'll take all the advice I can.
