Oil In The Coolant, Oil Looks Ok

Ok so after a lomng trip (600+ miles) I now have some oil floating on top of my coolant in the radiator...... oil cooler ??? I do still have a headgasket thats seeping oil out of the passengerside head.... should I just pull motor and do it all.... or just do the oil cooler and see where she leads me... almost have the enitre truck rebuilt.... only need to do the head gaskets and the t-case..... wich blew up on me this last tuesday on my way to work.... took off from a stop sign and BANG !!!!!... nothin... got er in 4 low and managed 20mph for the 3/4 mile to work..... so how hard is a borg/warner 1356 t-case to rebuild anyways??
Gonna need some help guys....... I have a 205 out of my chevy.... tempting... wrong side drop out though.... :humm::humm:

oil cooler needs rebuilding. i have a thread here on how to do it.

as for the tcase, it is junk. most likely the oil pump locked up inside it.

Awesome.... easy as pie.....:jump::jump:..... ok well I have big ass press...:yeah:...... So how ofter should one expect to have to do this to our trucks ??? and what is the cost of a new cooler ??

DieselCrawler 05-16-2012 05:02 AM

new cooler is expensive. the orings and seals will cost ya less than 100 bucks.

withthe orings, i have found out petroleum jelly is best to put on them. and dont use sparingly. lather it up.

4x4manonbroke 05-17-2012 12:43 AM

what kind of frequency do you have to do the seals on these oil coolers ??? :humm:

id get the head gaskets replaced and oil coller rebuilt and sealed :)

DieselCrawler 05-17-2012 09:23 PM

why do headgaskets if it isnt a headgasked problem?

7.3 idi 1990 05-22-2012 01:18 PM

i misunderstood, i thaught from how it was being said you had head gasket blown sorry buddy :)

Eddiebuntain 05-22-2012 02:11 PM

Original post said he had a headgasket seeping oil out of the passenger side head. If you got time and money to do it now, that might be a better option than waiting until it goes clear out, at that point you may not be so lucky. Your call of course.:c:

DieselCrawler 05-22-2012 04:18 PM

almost everyone will seep oil from heads if they are original. but there is no pressured oil threw the heads, just draining back down. no real worry unless it really bugs you. the heads are so heavy i rather not pull them if i dont have to. plus since you need to get new headbolts(or stud it), valley pan, and other assorted gaskets, not worth it for a little oil leak in my mind.

I'm bothered by the oil leaking mostly due to the price of the purple....and I like to have a clean motor as well.... kind nice to work on otherthings without getting nasy and all..... I do that enough all day at work as is.....and besides that I would like to put some boost.. like 5-8 plsi on this motor (not looking for a ton) just a little bit to carry me up the big hills here in washington... and the occasional towing that I will do it would be helpful....so I have the ARP studs on order and new head gaskets and all.. about 750 so far ... and a bit of piece of mind as well.....been through the rest of the mechanical stuff now just have to fix the t-case and the head and oil cooler leaks and all shoud be good.... maybe a lift too.... but this dang twin I beam is treeible on tires.... looking for straight axle too if ya know anyone in my neck of the woods.... 3.55's is what I have ..... mthanks for all the help Dieselcrawler u :rocking::rocking::rocking:
