Soupbowl

Hi there I used to have a powerstroke and now I have a 93 Turbo and starting to learn them I got gauges and turned the the pump up a little and getting ready to do a little more but was wondering what is the soupbowl and how does it help performance thanks for your time

If you have a turbo truck you don't have a "soup bowl" but what it is is on n/a trucks on the air filter lid there is a big bowl attached to the lid, I've heard it's to decrease noise, and to direct flow. The norm is to cut that bowl off or get a 6.9l lid that doesn't have the bowl. Supposed to be more free flowing

Might have to try that my truck pulls good on flat land but when you hit a small hill with around 10000 on it it feels sick

The lid on my 87 looks like it never had the soup bowl. Nothings been cut off of it.

Iirc 6.9s didn't have them ?

no, some 7.3 didnt. but if they didnt have them normally the bottom of the air cleaner into the intake is restricted...
