I just bought a 1984 F250 with a 6.9 in it. I would like to turn up the pump and blow black smoke but i dont know how exactly to do that. I know i run the risk of melting down the engine i just want to know how to make some smoke roll out of the pipes till this summer when i put my turbo on it.

Just do a search for turning up the injection pump... And please don't just go dumping smoke. It's not cool especially when your truck is still slower than molasses.

go to wallmart buy a womans large pair of under wear go out to your truck open the hood put the plastic bag it came in over your air filter and the under wear on your head then you will look as dumb as you sound but hey! you will roll coal bro!:argh:

Second, I'm gonna say that you came to this forum asking for smoke and that in itself will get you those kind of answers...

The walmart bag mod is going to be used in every thread where somebody comes asking for smoke... That's a part of these forums and will never go away. Especially as we see multiples of these threads every day... There are better ways to build a diesel that don't have to do with belching smoke but it seems as though people just want to go out and smoke out every thing that moves. Whats the point? I can tell you right now that I could make that 202rwhp in my 95 without a single puff of smoke. So what's the excitement of smoke? Does it make you fast? No. Does it mean you make huge power? No. That 91 makes more smoke than my 95 and I have 150 more hp to the wheels... There are much better things than smoke but I think the smoke has fogged people from seeing that...

Anyways, Nothing I say is going to change your mind but just remember when that dodge neon owns you on the street, he isn't going to think your smoke is cool either...

Open up your eyes, read the title of the video. NON turbo....I took the turbo off and didn't bother turning the fuel back Down...when I had the turbo it was much less smoke and 202rwhp. read the description next time. 140rwhp there

my intentions were to take that 91 idi to the limit just bashing it till it goes....if it ever decides to! shes got another motor waiting to go in.... with a bit of extra goodies:w2:

I doubt any 6.9 CCLB Dually is going to give my ext cab a run... :c:

You could always run veggie oil in it for a year or to and not change the fuel filter or have the injectors cleaned:w2:

dieselcrawler has a good post on how to turn up your fuel pump i looked at his post and thats how i figured out how to turn mine up it kinda takes a while to figer out were to put the pump on how much coal u want to roal i turnd mine up a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and it will put out the smoke whn u realy stomp on it but not enuff to block the car behind u it all depends how muck black u want to leave behind

hey there 91.. I have the same want... just for a lil fun ... it kills fuel eco and the state patrol get pissed when they see a diesel unloaded and smoking like crazy ... just so you know you run the risk of seriously damaging the engine and your wallet by turning up the IP in your truck.... as I have the sam engine...a 7.3 IDI N/A... I make just as much power with out the smoe as with... and yeahg its funny as hell to smoke out some rice grinder but the fact is he's still gonna waist ur ass either way... save the money you have and get the turbo at least then you'll have a "CHANCE" nto a good one but you;ll be better off at least.... just sayin... look at the top of the page for 88-94 fords... you'll find your Injection pump turn up mod you want to do ... just head the warnings please

The reason it was smokin like that was because I did a turbo vs n/a dyno run. Same fuel setting. Numbers are in my sig
