i have a 83 ford f250 with a four speed manual it has true dual exhuast on it. im buying an old banks 6.9 turbo kit with exhuast and everything except the turbo came off an auto is there anyway i can buy an exhuast kit to make this work>

DieselCrawler 12-20-2011 05:19 PM

nope.will have to be custom made if you want to hook up both your pipes

83camo 12-22-2011 02:19 AM

how much do you think i will gain off an old kit like that?

DieselCrawler 12-22-2011 06:59 PM

do you know if it is the wastegated turbo or the nonwastegated one?

when i put the ATS setup on my 86, my gains were this.

pre turbo- 123 hp, 254 ft lbs
post turbo- 164 hp, 320 ft lbs.

thats at the rear wheels with the truck in my avater. now my dually has a banks sidewinder wastegated turbo. on the rollers that truck made 163 hp and 325 ft lbs or so. cant quite remeber, but it was almost even with my 86.

Anything special need to be done when putting a factory re-built turbo? Taking my factory one off. Figured I would freshen it up a bit.

anythime installing a turbo, fill it with some clean oil while spinning the wheel by hand. this gets some oil in the bushings. now unhook your FSS wire and crank the motor for 15 seconds. this gets engine oil pressure to it. hook your FSS back up and run it.

its non wastegated by banks before the sidewinder, and do you know if anyone makes a rebuild for these

DieselCrawler 12-26-2011 01:44 PM

have fun. the banks turbos are a pain in the ass to get parts for. banks would be the place to call. IIRC it is a mitsubisi turbo.

D.C., Is the fss wire the one connected to the top of the turbo where the oil line connects? And, is that the oil feed or return line?

DieselCrawler 01-07-2012 08:39 PM

top of turbo is the feed line. the wire to that are is acutally for your oil pressure gauge. FSS goes to the injection pump. driverside of pump, closest to radiator.
