need mileage and power
How do you cut out the soup bowl like everyone else has been saying and I need a new lift pump was thinking of switching to an elctric one instead of mechanical. Cold mornings in upper new York state are not diesel friendly. My fuel makes it to the Cylinders after the glowplugs finish cycling.

I put a cheap Mr gasket electric diesel fuel pump on my 83 6.9. It makes it a lot easier to prime the fuel/water separator. I also have a primer bulb like the ones on a boat (it was there when I bought it but it works great) hope it helps. Joe

where could I get a lift pump like that? what do you mean "primer bulb like on a boat" you mean something like on a chainsaw or lawnmower except larger
|
the cheapo pumps do not hold enough pressure. at wot they are only supplying 2 psi or less when the motor is requiring 7. holley blue pump or the equivinalnt work great.
|
I was reading about the holley blue pump but it says right on the description not designed or recommended for use with fuel injection systems. Any other time I probably would have bought it and slapped it on without a care in the world but I am sick of having to fix things I just fixed three monthes ago.
|
what they are saying there is GAS fuel injection. they require alot more pressure. our motors only require 7 psi of head pressure into the injection pump.
i run the holley red pump on my 86. havent had any fuel issues. |
Sorry It took me a while to respond. But the primer is from a boat here is the link. Buy.com - 1/4in Barb Primer Bulb I know the pump I have isn't the best but it works for basic driving. I have been looking at this pump from rockauto More Information for AIRTEX E8153 it sounds good and only costs $45 which is cheaper than any others I've seen. Let me know if it will work well. Thanks

psi is a little high. to much fuel pressure will throw your timing curve way off. but i belive that is a stock pump for a chevy 6.5 liter.
